Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] par_avion for lending space and to [livejournal.com profile] jic for advice and support. Feedback is always appreciated.

Maybe I should snap her up in a butterfly net
and pin her down on a photograph album.

The schedules for the 2008-09 television season have come out and I'm really amused by the fact that half of the shows I'll be watching are airing on FOX, the station that I said I would never watch again after what happened with Firefly.

my projected fall schedule )

I wanted to wait until all of my 'non-summer' television was over before I posted this, and Doctor Who had to go and air oddly, crossing over between fall-spring television nearly into summer. But now it's done and I feel able to sum up how I felt. So, in alphabetical order, what I watched this year:

Sorry for the radio silence. I've just been in one of those moods where I've been utterly unable to respond to anyone (I always feel horrible for it, but sometimes even the thought of clicking 'reply' makes my mind go blank in a really awful way). I haven't been having a bad set of days just... really kinda tiring. Overwhelmed, a bit.

I heard Robert F. Kennedy Jr. speak last week and it was... very emotionally affecting. I'm still thinking over everything that he said (he had some really great lines and just amazing delivery -- he speaks really quickly and a little... strangled but you can understand everything he says. He also has a slight accent going on -- says "cahnt" instead of "can't". There's also a lot of... Kennedy in his voice. I would know what family he was from even if I... didn't know what family he was from.).

Been watching Prison Break. Overall, I'm really enjoying the second seasonspoilers through episode 2x04 -- First Down ).

Watched the first two episodes of Housespoilers through episode 3x02 -- Cane and Able ).

Really enjoyed the Bones premiere, though the plotline about her parents was a bit lost on me, as my watching was spotty last year.

Oh! And I got Justin Timberlake's new CD in the mail today (also Christina's, as I had them shipped together so that I could get free shipping). Yay! New music from people I love!

Really enjoyed it.
Spoilers for tonight's new episode of House )

I lack a House icon. Hmm. I must remedy this.
butterfly: (Buffy fan)
In two of the shows that I actually bother to watch regularly these days, the female characters are not well-written (and while this bugs the hell out of me, the guys are written interestingly enough that I don't want to give up on the shows in question). And I think that a lot of the bad female writing comes not from having male writers, per se, but from having male writers who love their female characters too shallowly.
vague spoilers for BtVS, House, Stargate SG-1, and Smallville )

Eeee! Inuit story! House told an honest-to-God Inuit story. I nearly died from the cute. An Inuit story! From someone not Fraser. The shock nearly killed me.

Inuit Story! How much do I adore House for using 'Inuit' instead of 'Eskimo'? So much. He uses the right word! Yay!

I may need a House icon.

So, I got sent home from work yesterday, on account of my having a horrible headache. I went there, tried to work for two and a half hours, and then the manager came to me and said, basically -- Dude, you are practically dying. Go home, drive safely, and go to bed.

And I did, and slept for twelve hours. And now I feel fine, because this is the way migraines work. They're very annoying. And painful and nauseating, but those parts are a gimme.

And now I... am off to work again. And today, no headache, so I should be fine and actually do something.

In other news -- [livejournal.com profile] _par_avion, I got the House episodes, plus I watched Tues' episode. I adored them all, though possibly the most recent one a touch more. spoilers for last Tuesday's episode of House )
