And he has one very clear point to make.

butterfly: (Kris Allen -- humble)
Tonight's American Idol concert was in Arkansas, where Kris Allen (Winner!) comes from. It was epic and huge and the best thing ever (I listened to it on cellcast -- how that man can sound so gorgeous over a cellphone and 18,000 cheering fans, I don't know. He just cuts through all the random sounds and goes straight to the soul). The resulting joy over his triumphant homecoming performance led to fans (including myself and much of the rest of [livejournal.com profile] ontd_ai) getting #krisallenrockstar to trend on Twitter, including hitting #1 and staying there for over an hour and a half.

And considering that I just found out that David Tennant kissed John Barrowman at Comic-Con, I'm pretty impressed with that result.

By the way, that was the other epic thing.

And Torchwood was renewed for S4! Yay!

butterfly: (E=mc^2 -- David as Eddington)
Consider me fully and completely smitten by Arthur Stanley Eddington as played by David Tennant.
spoilers for Einstein and Eddington )

Andy Serkis does a really great job as Einstein, too.
spoilers that have nothing to do with David Tennant's gorgeous turn as Eddington )

All in all -- wow! Amazing job. And it really makes me want to find out everything there is to know about Arthur Eddington.

So, I got my Series 4 dvds and the very first thing that I did was rush over to the "Journey's End" commentary to see what Russell, David, and Catherine had to say about That Particular Scene. 4x13 -- Journey's End spoilers )

1. Stop talking about politics for a moment or two.
2. Post a reasonably-sized picture in your LJ, NOT under a cut tag, of something pleasant, such as an adorable kitten, or a fluffy white cloud, or a bottle of booze. Something that has NOTHING TO DO WITH POLITICS.

It's the season of eyes meeting over the noise.

butterfly: (Badass -- Hamlet)
First off, the role call of RSC folk in this season's plays who have also been in Doctor Who:
more names than you might think )

The first play that I saw was the sublime "Love's Labour's Lost". It was funny and sexy and very good. What would Berowne say? - thoughts on LLL )

And now, a picture of David at the curtain call of LLL and a couple of him at the stage door afterwards )

So, all that was awesome. The next day, after meeting [livejournal.com profile] jagwriter78, [livejournal.com profile] starlightmoonla and [livejournal.com profile] principia_coh (slightly later), [livejournal.com profile] antigone921 and I wandered off on our own. She'd heard that the Shakespeare Archive and Library had tape copies of old RSC performances, including (she hoped) David Tennant's "Comedy of Errors" from 2000. and have it, they did ) All in all, very adorable and definitely worth checking out if you're in Stratford. The Library is located very near the Shakespeare Birthplace and viewing one of the plays is free if you're a student (they also had David's "Romeo and Juliet" but we didn't have the time to see that one).

Then, it was "Hamlet" time. Before I go into the detail, I must say this... until I came to Stratford, David was definitely in the top twenty hottest guys I've seen. Now? Number one with a bullet. Guh. The amount of sexy that he exudes in person is... fairly well overwhelming.

Revenge should have no bounds -- extensive Hamlet thoughts )

In conclusion: freaking awesome.

butterfly: (Badass -- Hamlet)
A lovely surprise that was waiting for me when I got home from VVC: my Love's Labour's Lost and Hamlet tickets have arrived from [livejournal.com profile] antigone921. Squee!
butterfly: (Badass -- Hamlet)

I have three upcoming trips, one of which I only decided to do quite recently. Since there are people on my flist who are also going to two of these places, I thought I would share information and etc.

VividCon: which is next week (eee!) in Chicago. I'm leaving the fourteenth and getting back the eighteenth. I anticipate having much fun (vids! Yay!).

My brother's wedding: October 18th, California. He's getting married to a funny, smart and pretty woman. I've only met her a couple of times, but she made a great impression on me. I think they have the chance to be really happy with each other.

Hamlet (!) and Love's Labor's Lost: October 20-21. I'm pretty much going straight from my brother's wedding to this (I've already gotten my plane ticket). I'm going to see David Tennant as Hamlet. Eeee! I'm kinda ridiculously excited about this. I'm flying into London and then there's a bus out to Stratford. I'm staying in a guesthouse with [livejournal.com profile] antigone921 and we're going to be seeing LLL on the 20th and Hamlet  on the 21st (along with, apparently, quite a few other DT fans on that same night). There are tentative plans for a bunch of us to get together for lunch on the day of Hamlet. On the 22nd, I'm going to take the bus back to London, where I'm thinking of staying at a youth hostel, as those are fairly cheap (I've found one online that looks good). I'm going to be in London on the 23rd all day (my grandmother made me promise to go to the British Museum), and then I'm flying back to the USA on Friday the 24th.

Where I will, presumably, collapse from happy exhaustion.

butterfly: (Worry -- the Doctor)

A) The link to the podcast is http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/podcasts/mayo/ (contains spoilers for several S4 episodes).

B) I love David Tennant and his natural accent to tiny, tiny bits.

C) I love him saying that playing the Doctor is just as much fun as he'd imagined it would be as a kid (lots of hard work, but always enjoyable). That makes me very happy.

D) Hearing him praise the people he works with is fun -- he has a lot of admiration for RTD (calls him 'the finest television writer there is') spoilers for S4 companion casting )

E) Once again hearing him calling the Doctor and Rose a 'love story' is lovely. Because it's very obviously true just from watching the show, but it's always nice to hear that the writers and actors are on the same page that I'm reading.

F) All in all, it's just fun to listen to him.

butterfly: (Worry -- the Doctor)
So, I've arrived at the hotel (not the best flight ever -- there was waiting an additional hour for them to load the luggage, there was an actual medical emergency on board, and there was the pilot forgetting to tell us which carousel our luggage would be in), picked up my registration packet, settled into my room and...

I've seen the first two episodes of Blackpool (with [livejournal.com profile] settiai, [livejournal.com profile] jmtorres, [livejournal.com profile] par_avion, [livejournal.com profile] niqaeli, and [livejournal.com profile] jic). Dude! David Tennant is so fricking adorable. Also, [livejournal.com profile] jic and I were informed at the beginning that their theory on the show is that David's character is, of course, really the Doctor and Blythe is a companion from the future. There was nothing in the first two episodes to contradict this notion. I rather like it, myself.

Saw the new S4 promo of the Doctor and companion. Really liked it. I'm quite looking forward to season four.
