Dawson's Creek is sometimes known as the show that ruined the phrase 'soul mate' and stomped all over it with big boots and then attempted to redeem it in the finale.

See, we are sold Joey Potter and Dawson Leery as soul mates (literally; I think they use that phrase for them dozens of times in-show. Or at least it felt that way). But every time that they end up in a relationship together, it's pretty much poison all the way. So, in the finale, do I need to cut for spoilers? ).

Anyway, I hear that Kevin has called Stefan and Elena 'soul mates' and it makes me wonder which of his own definitions he's using. Stefan and Elena do sometimes come across as a less horrible version of Dawson/Joey. Golden boy (who doesn't really appreciate how favored he's been)/feisty brunette (who is an orphan being raised by her sister aunt).

Subtitle: Oh, my God! I made a vid! My very first vid! Eeeee!

It's in .mpg format and it's just over four minutes long (41.3 MB). The song is one of the new Backstreet Boys songs that... technically isn't out yet. Technically.

Summary:
Pacey sees Joey in the series finale and realises that he's not over her.

Because I'm tired and have no original thoughts, I will meme.

a. Post a list of 10 TV shows you watch(ed).
b. Have your friends list guess your favourite character and/or pairing from each show.
c. When guessed, tell us why you like that character/pairing.
10 shows, all pairings and characters are now guessed )

So, I'm now watching S1 of Dawson's Creek and the little moments of Pacey/Joey are fun to find.

The whole 'ass-grabbing' incident in the first episode. Also, when Joey's all "Well, Dawson's a virgin" to Jen, you can see Pacey smiling in the background. She makes him smile!

Then, in the second episode, we have Joey absolutely refusing to kiss Pacey in a way that, in retrospect, screams denial. She's fixating on Dawson because he's safe, he's home. Why the insistence from her that Pacey is 'repellent', when we have the clear evidence of an older woman finding him attractive to show us that, even in tv-world, Pacey is a cutie?

Dawson: "The question is, will your lips ever find Pacey's?"

Also, JVDB really does have a large forehead. I mean, he really does. And the first season hair really brings it out. Jen's eyes look incredibly tiny in first season. Pacey looks very young, but he always has a baby-face. Joey is just gorgeous, with legs that just keep going.

In a way. I fastforwarded past anything that I remembered being boring. Anyway, I was surprised that I didn't hate Dawson this time around. Granted, some of that may have to do with prudent skipping, but I watched his worst moments in S3 and... just felt sorry for him. Maybe it's because I know that Pacey and Joey get to move forward in the end, while Dawson seems to remain trapped in his past, forever trying to get the whole 'Joey thing' right in his head.

And it occurs to me that the story isn't about damaged and hurt people who are friends with 'perfect' Dawson, an idea that has pissed me off in the past, but about a group of damaged people. And the difference between now and then? Actually, it was reading Harry Potter. You know who Dawson reminds me of? Dudley.

Being spoiled can ruin a child just as surely as neglect or abuse.

Also, I like the theme song that's used on the dvds. I've never gotten how Paula Cole's theme had anything to do with the people on DC. It made no sense.

My adoration for P/J remains utterly intact. And may have even grown. I absolutely adore both Joey and Pacey, even more so when they're in a scene together.

Okay, why am I writing a post about Joey Potter when I haven't even watched the show in over a year?

Well, I ran across a P/J pic and got all nostalgic. I really liked Pacey and Joey. They were sweet and funny and not completely dysfunctional. And there were times that I really related to Joey.

"Because I’m fifteen years old, and I go through every day thinking that nobody loves me."

Like that moment, way back in whatever season that was.

I stopped watching the show at the start of fourth season 'cause I didn't want to see the inevitable break-up.

Because I'm a sap.

The sappiest sap in Sapdom.
