In a way. I fastforwarded past anything that I remembered being boring. Anyway, I was surprised that I didn't hate Dawson this time around. Granted, some of that may have to do with prudent skipping, but I watched his worst moments in S3 and... just felt sorry for him. Maybe it's because I know that Pacey and Joey get to move forward in the end, while Dawson seems to remain trapped in his past, forever trying to get the whole 'Joey thing' right in his head.

And it occurs to me that the story isn't about damaged and hurt people who are friends with 'perfect' Dawson, an idea that has pissed me off in the past, but about a group of damaged people. And the difference between now and then? Actually, it was reading Harry Potter. You know who Dawson reminds me of? Dudley.

Being spoiled can ruin a child just as surely as neglect or abuse.

Also, I like the theme song that's used on the dvds. I've never gotten how Paula Cole's theme had anything to do with the people on DC. It made no sense.

My adoration for P/J remains utterly intact. And may have even grown. I absolutely adore both Joey and Pacey, even more so when they're in a scene together.

THis is true, but usually one's peers will knock it out of a child spoiled at home. But the ultra popular kid, attractive, adulated by peers and teachers, is doomed inless he or she has an internal store of empathy.

There was this adorable little boy in my son's kindergarten class that everyone liked/paid attention to (I was a regular volunteer, so I know how the teacher, aide, and other kids acted aound this boy). I could tell already his whole school life to be: Most popular boy, athlete, honor student, church youth leader... It was weird to see it that clearly. And I still liked him as a kindergartener, but I had these flashbacks to the jerky guys who were the BMOC at my high school.

The real doom for Dawson is that he was friends with two people of immensely low self-esteem, who really fed his ego. Joey and Pacey were desperate for his approval in the early seasons, though Pacey got past that a lot faster than Joey did.

Plus, the fact that he was viewed as the town 'wunderkind' didn't do him any favors.

I hated season 3 Dawson and think I always shall *g* He did become tolerable in later seasons, but in episodes like The Prom and the boatrace episode. HATE.

His attitude of Joey "belonging"to him was evne creepier when the writers and people around him seemed to endorse that opinion...

Don't get me started on D/J suddenly being called soulmates, when really they were friends who had briefly dated and it didn't work out. Where does the soulmate idea come into it?

I love Joey/Pacey! :D

He's fucked up and selfish and completely at fault. I just can't hate him for it. All I feel is pity. Pacey showed himself to be the better man in every single situation.

And Dawson didn't even like her until she got all dressed up. Pacey liked her first, which amuses me so much.
