butterfly: (Really? -- Teyla)
[personal profile] kuwdora had what I thought was a really good idea about posting Vid WIP/Dead-in-the-water vids that are either totally dead-dead or just 'unsure' dead but that people might be interested in. She's doing hers to celebrate the opening of Dwth, but I'm just doing it in general.

Here is my (incomplete) list of WIP/stalled vids, in rough order of how done they are:

First five requests will have the unfinished vids uploaded and shown to y'all.
butterfly: (Mmm -- Luke)

subtitle: I just wrote fifteen-hundred+ words about a soap opera couple.

thoughts on the Deniz/Roman relationship )

Also, Deniz and Roman kiss really, really well together. They've got some impressive kissing going on.

butterfly: (With You -- Christian/Oliver)

Father Kieron is really, really cute.

I'd glanced at a Hollyoaks clip before and found it uninteresting, but that was apparently because I picked the wrong time period. I found Craig annoying and blah. Kieron, however, is adorable. Will now go watch the rest of the clips about him (and John Paul) that are available.

butterfly: (Young At Heart -- Sarah Jane Smith)

So, a huge part of the reason why I have all this time to watch stuff right now (and bang about on the internet) is because my school is doing a month-long break between Spring and Summer terms. This is definitely nice, on the one hand, because it means that I get to watch the finale episodes of S4 of Doctor Who without it messing with my ability to do schoolwork (because... it would), but I actually have too much time because I quit my job (for three reasons: a. more time for school, b. the 'moving closer to Portland in a couple of weeks' thing would make the commute really suck, c. I really kinda hated it) and school is out for a month.

Soap operas appear to have been my solution. Because I had no idea how addictive they were (and, of course, after I start watching them is when people mention this *grins*).

Also, regarding Doctor Who: I have no speculation. I'm not going to try to guess what happens next (though I'm enjoying reading other people's guesses). I'm just going to watch the story. Judging on previous evidence (three other television series, plus three+ years of RTD's Who), I think I'll like it. That's enough for me at the moment.

Of the things that I'm watching/have recently watched:

Alles Was Zaehlt: A+ for chemistry between Deniz and Roman; C for Vanessa (with a bump up to a straight B for the actress, who I liked well enough on her own); B- for recent plot developments.
As the World Turns: A for the chemistry between Luke and Noah; D for Ameera (B- for the actress, though, who I thought was really cute); C+ for recent plot developments.
Being Human: General A for overall excellence. A+ for chemistry between the three leads. Bumped off half a point for only having one episode (but more in Jan. Yay!).
Bob and Rose: A for plotting. B for Holly. A+ for Bob and Rose's chemistry.
Casanova: A+ for plotting (loved the framing device). A+ for chemistry between Casanova and every single character with whom he shared the screen. Bonus points for Goth!Naples.
Doctor Who (series 4): General A- for plotting. A+ for chemistry between the Doctor and Donna. Bonus points for recent developments.
The Sarah Jane Adventures: General A for strong plots, good characters, and intercast chemistry. Not an A+ because of the pilot, which wasn't quite as good (no Clyde!).
Verbotene Liebe: A+ for chemistry between Christian and Oliver; B for recent plot developments; bonus points for Gregor and Olivia.

ETA: Note regarding actors in the GSOB plots )
butterfly: (With You -- Christian/Oliver)

I've been hooked by another pair of German GSOB, only this pair is a complete contrast to Christian/Oliver (who manage to be healthy and communicate honestly with each other and resolve things in an oddly sane way considering that they live on a soap).

Deniz and Roman: Lustful. Deceptive. Very unhealthy.

Really kinda hot.

Alles Was Zaehlt -- Drugs! Vanessa! Not as many english subtitles as Verbotene Liebe! )

butterfly: (Smile -- Megan)

This week, on Verbotene Liebe, Christian and Oliver once again managed to be an extremely healthy couple. There's all this... honesty with each other and consideration and hating when they cause each other pain. spoilers! )

Oh, be still my heart!

*cuddles adorable GSOB*

Noah and Luke are making me less happy, but Christian and Oliver can kinda make up for any possible bad thing in the world.

butterfly: (So Close -- Luke and Noah)

Because they make everything in the world better. No lie.

First, I am going to talk about the couple that Possibly Hasn't Had Sex Yet (Luke and Noah). spoilers for As the World Turns. Drama! Romance! Homophobic Fathers with Rifles! Also: Luke is *not* the Luke of Luke and Laura. )

Now, I will talk about the couple that Probably Having Sex As We Speak (Christian and Oliver). spoilers for Verbotene Liebe. Bisexuality! Drama Queens! Cousin Olivia! Boxing! )

butterfly: (Cleverness -- Hermione)

First, the bad thing:

Supernatural has majorly disappointed me with its treatment of women in S3. [livejournal.com profile] trollprincess helpfully went through all three seasons of the show and the jump in sexist language in the third season is glaring. [livejournal.com profile] marinarusalka went through the one-shot female characters in S3 to further illustrate how the narrowing outlook of the show has limited the choices of the female characters. I was so in love with this show at the beginning of S3. In seasons one and two, I felt like Dean Winchester (and, by extension, the show) respected and liked women as well as lusted after them. After S3, I don't feel that way anymore (basically, I agree completely with what [livejournal.com profile] esorlehcar says here). Oh, Show, I want to love you again, but if you keep slinging the word 'bitch' around like you did this season, I'm giving you your walking papers.

Now, a good thing:

Pretty gay men on soap operas. I had never before known the joy of pretty gay men on soap operas but my eyes have been opened in the past few days. Here are Luke and Noah from As the World Turns kissing for the first time, the second time, and the long-awaited third time. Here are Oliver and Christian from Verbotene Liebe (Forbidden Love) with kissing (at 5:30 -- I think I find the pause before the kiss even sexier than the kiss itself), nervous first-time making out, Christian dreaming of Oliver kissing him, and making out with bonus shirt removal (at 4:00). I called in to support Luke and Noah's storyline on As the World Turns and got this awesome gay kissing in return. Score.
