Orlin's journey is totally foreshadowing for Daniel. Oh, the details differ, but he's a clear forerunner.

Also? Daniel totally cracked me up.

Dude (played by John de Lancie! Eee!): "Need I remind you, Doctor Jackson, of the dangers that we're trying to defend Earth against?"
Daniel: "Oh, could you? Go slow."

Orlin amused me vastly, even though he was a complete stalker.

Also, he was apparently able to reascend by himself, at the end. Interesting.

If your serious about Teal'c's "suggestion" I may have to break down and buy the series myself. I've living vicariously through butterfly's reviews, but she gets any more enthusiastic, I'll break down completely and spend $$$ I don't have.

I may not have gotten the wording absolutely right, but that WAS his dead-pan suggestion, and it did use the words "arena," "humans do battle", and "Jello", and it was immediately hailed by O'Neill as being an excellent suggestion, in which Daniel should also participate.

Teal'c has some great lines in many of the episodes, even when he's not setting up an outrageous straight line for O'Neill (O'Neill: "You read the Bible, Teal'c?" Teal'c: "Of course. It is an important part of your Western culture. Have you not read the Bible, O'Neill?" O'Neill: "I'm...listening to it on tape. Don't tell me how it comes out."), but that's one of my all-time favorites (especially coming right on top of the claim that the alien Teal'c's favorite movie is "Star Wars," which he re-watches at every opportunity).
