Atlantis: Missing

Teyla/Keller -- the less damaged version of McKay/Sheppard, yes?

Their dynamic really did remind me of McKay and Sheppard, affection chased with a heavy dose of frustration. It was interesting to see Teyla that scared and single-minded -- we've never seen her confronted with the complete loss of her people like that, unable to do anything about it if her people were dead. Helpless.

Keller kinda sucks in the woods (which she's aware of), but is still much better at shutting up and following orders than S1 Carson, so I'm willing to cut her slack. Overall, it was really nice to have an episode focused on Teyla, especially one that had so much time for another female character.

Blood Ties: The Devil You Know

*hearts*

I'm still in the honeymoon stage with this show, which means that I adore everything about it, ever (even the cheesy feral vamp growls. Aw). I found the relationship between Christina and Henry to be quite interesting (and found it very intriguing that Mike compared his relationship with Vicki to it). And I loved all of the Henry and Vicki stuff. And Henry scene with Alexander (and Alexander's sister) was pretty heartbreaking.

And this show has such an awareness of how fucked up our society and media are about women, which I really love about it (they also really highlighted that in Stone Cold, when Henry disputes youth=beauty and Mike says that if a woman doesn't believe she's beautiful, nothing he can say is going to make her believe it).

Great show.

Numb3rs: Primacy

Three cheers for Amita being important and significant for reasons that had nothing to do with her dating Charlie. Three cheers for Colby still managing to be very slashy, even without David in the episode.

Don was great (even though we didn't see him much), but Charlie... hmm. He didn't thrill me here. He wasn't just protective, he also acted as though he had final say over Amita's decisions (I'm thrilled that Amita clearly doesn't agree). He was kinda pissing me off in parts. No cookie for Charlie; Amita gets to have Charlie's cookie.

Dexter: That Night, A Forest Grew

Oh, thank fuck (I'm channeling Deb). I'm so glad that Lila is clearly supposed to be fucked up and fucked up for Dexter. I was so afraid that this show was going to be portraying her as 'cute' and 'quirky'. I should have known better. She made Dexter damn close to dislikable, but it was on purpose by the writers, which makes it an intentional character arc, which I find such a relief.

The notion of Deb/Lundy creeps me out, though I guess it makes sense. Last season, she dated her brother and now she's got a crush on her dad. Next season, she'll go out with someone that Dexter's flashbacks will let us know is eerily reminiscent of her mother. If they go to four seasons, though, I'm not sure where they can go next (grandparents?).

Rita and Maria are both still very strong characters (another relief) and I loved seeing both of them these recent two episodes.

Heroes: Four Months Ago

I really loved the Peter/Adam part of the plotline. The stupid way that DL died made me flail and throw up my hands (and the way Niki was dis-empowered back to 'crazy and in need of men's help'). Micah is love. Maya and Alejandro are still pretty boring. There was no West! I'm thrilled about that part.

Overall, could have been much better, but it was quite a bit better than the first few episodes of the season.

Bones, House, Boston Legal: Big fan in a non-fannish way. Bones makes me gleeful just about every week, House is quite emotionally satisfying, and Alan is a better friend than Denny deserves.

Smallville: Blue

All the bits that had to do with the Kryptonian Soap Opera were pretty boring and over the top.
All the stuff was wasn't related to the main plot was pretty terrific, though. Apparently, I'm one of the few people shocked and surprised by the possible Julian revelation in a good way (and I'm willing to believe he could really be Julian because... Lionel has been known to pull that kind of bullshit in the past -- if nothing else, Lillian tried to kill Julian. He may have seen making her believe she succeeded as his son's only chance at survival).

Supernatural: Fresh Blood

This show really is pure emoporn.

Sam and Dean were perfect in this episode (even in the thing that I disagree with them about -- I don't think killing Lucy is necessary but they showed with Madison that they have a much lower ability to think outside the box than Buffy (and Buffy), so they're very much in character in killing Lucy -- they're more like Angel, where outside reasons for staying good aren't good enough, it has to be internal. They'd have shot Lindsey; Buffy wouldn't've.). Adored both the room conversation ('be my brother') and the car one (which made me cry a little, I admit it).

Also adored in this episode -- Gordon! So sympathetic and so fucked up and fucked over. Gordon's point of view makes sense. Sam is hailed by demons as a leader. Right now, it's a step beyond what Sam and Dean do in killing Madison and Lucy, but not a terribly far step, considering that Sam was afraid of not being able to control turning evil last season. I'm sad that we lost him, though seeing Sam get his hands that bloody over saving Dean's life was... symbolic and such.

Bela was also great. I'm really enjoying how straight the writers are playing her -- she doesn't have a secret heart of gold. She's too fucked up for that. She does for herself and doesn't get emotionally attached to other people, no matter how cute. I like her.

Really great episode.

Absolutely. That's what I loved about this ep. Gordon, when turned, doesn't suddenly pull an Angelus. He's still Gordon. And it feels like his decision to take innocent lives is a decision, not an imperative. It's him saying, "Well, I'm a monster now, I may as well act like one," instead of trying to find a way not to be a monster, which we've seen vampires do.

*nods*

Exactly. For Gordon, vampires had to be evil (sorta the reverse of S7 Buffy, who had to believe that a vampire getting a soul made a fundamental difference, because of her experience with Angel/Angelus). If he was a vampire, then he was evil. Period. Despite the fact that he was still trying to do the same thing he'd been doing before he was turned.
