Birds and Bees may be gay: museum exhibit
Geir Soeli, the project leader of the exhibition entitled "Against Nature," told Reuters: "Homosexuality has been observed for more than 1,500 animal species, and is well documented for 500 of them."
Also, on a different note, Supernatural should totally have a Jossverse alum in the third episode of every season. One more year, it'll be a pattern!

2. "Burn in hell" doesn't exactly sound very Christian to me.

Date: 2006-10-16 09:47 am (UTC)Indeed. It's a crime in some cultures. It actually does make sense that the taboo against homosexuality would develop in a less-populated world -- you want to encourage population growth. But that's got nothing to do with morality -- it's all about practicality. Beating your enemies by numbers.

Date: 2006-10-13 07:06 pm (UTC)Since when did Christians care what was natural anyway?
Do other animals pray?
Since when does society only do what's natural?
Is it natural to eat cooked food?
They should ask, not, "is it natural?" but "is it doing any harm?"
Yes, it's great that other animals are gay too - but even if they weren't, that wouldn't make it a bad thing for us to be.

Date: 2006-10-13 07:39 pm (UTC)Jesus never condemned homosexuals. Jesus came for all of humankind, and died on a cross for the sins of all humankind. Anyone who turns people away from God through such judgmental behavior is committing a great sin.
As for the 'against nature' thing -- homosexuality has purposes in nature. If I wasn't incredibly lazy, I'd go look something up right now, but sadly I'm lazy, and I'm sure the museum exhibit does a good enough job of showing it without my two cents.

Date: 2006-10-16 09:49 am (UTC)Yes, exactly. God is about love, not about hate. It baffles me that people can read the Christian bible all the way through and think that the point of it is to hate other people.

Date: 2006-10-13 09:25 pm (UTC)I forget, who was the Jossverse alum from their first season episode three? But wasn't Amber in fine form last night, and that episode was certainly more enjoyable and more nuanced than the usual run of Supernatural eps.
I only wish I'd caught the first 20 minutes of it (got home late from the office and didn't have enough tape left in the VCR). Did I miss much of Amber, or by catching the final 40 minutes did I pretty much get the gist of it?

Amber was marvelous. And I think that Supernatural has been, from the beginning, on an upward curve. The episodes are just consistently getting better, I think.

If you saw her intro to Sam, you saw her intro. The very beginning was more set-up with the hunter plot (the teaser was a woman getting chased and beheaded by faux-Gunn -- I can't remember his name, but faux-Gunn works well enough, considering his backstory).

Date: 2006-10-13 09:41 pm (UTC)You're right, the "Supernatural" learning curve has been going in a very encouraging direction (as witnessed by the fact that I continue to watch it, even without the promise of Jossverse alums to sweeten the deal). And yes, I kept expecting "faux-Gunn" (Gordon, was it?) to mention his sister "Alonna" -- except he was more like those ex-comrades of Gunn's who terrorized Caritas in AtS season 3.
