butterfly: (Civilian Consultant -- Daniel Jackson)

I'm kinda impressed that it's been ten years and Sam is still surprised at how far Daniel is willing to go when he's operating under negative in emotions. Tonight's episode (for me) made many emotional callbacks to previous episodes and one of the things that it made me think of was Bloodlines in season one. You know, the one where Daniel slaughters an entire container of baby Gou'uld and Sam is shocked and horrified that he would be willing to do something like that. He was operating under hate back then, while I think that (as he said to Jack) fear is stronger now, but, yes, Daniel is willing to go as far as he needs to in certain cases.

On the plus side, Sam has figured out that Daniel survives a lot. I love that once the team sees that there was a ring transmission, they assume it was Daniel. Because that's just the way the universe works. Very amusing. Loved the last-second beam-up of Teal'c (I was wondering why Kvasir kept working on the beaming tech rather than, you know, getting them out of there, but then it all made sense).

Adria was cool. Effectively creepy, with the golden eye thing going on. Plus, I enjoyed the way they had her played. Loved her conversation with Vala at the end (and I adored Vala in that conversation).

It was blood curling the way Daniel just said he should have killed her when he had the occasion, but at the same time, it was really him. Moreso considering his experience and latest disilusionment with the Ancients. But yeah, it was odd Sam was so shocked, like she couldn't deal with the idea Daniel was able to do such a thing.

Definitely in character, but, yeah, Daniel can be cold when he needs to be.

Well, it has been nearly ten years since she heard him suggesting killing a child.

Daniel just won't die. Ever. This means the only way Michael Shanks will ever get out of this show is if Daniel changes his body with someone else. And it's not like the show is going to end any time soon. I predict another ten seasons or so. ;-)

Oooh. Daniel regenerates a la Doctor Who! It could be a great crossover fic! *snerk*

And I think you're right that this show could go on for a really long time.

Hee! If anyone could spontaneous develop regeneration, it would be Daniel.

And SG-1 (and really anyone else who has high enough clearance to know Daniel) would shrug their shoulders and go, "That's Daniel." Heh.

Oh, the possibilities! I'm just trying to imagine what would happen if there was suddenly a blue police box in the gate room. ;-)

I have a feeling the Doctor would have fun pointing out just how stupid they can be sometimes.

Hee, yes. Seriously, if they did try to kill Daniel off for keeps, I honestly wouldn't be able to believe in context. "Oh, he ascended or escaped or an alien race saved him." Because once someone has 'died' more than five times, it's kinda hard to take death threats to them seriously.

Someone on my flist used to have this really cool SG/Buffy icon which said "My fandom died more than any other." It's a miracle that there is not more zombie fic seeing how often they have died already. ;-)

It's one of the things I love about him. When he decides something needs to be done, he doesn't hold back. He just does it.

*snerk* Yeah, they were all, "Oh, of course that was Daniel! Who else could it have been?"

I very much admire idealists who can also be ruthlessly practical when they need to be.
