Three things.

Item 1: Alan Shore, the central character of Boston Legal, is now my favorite fictional lawyer in the history of ever (definitely surpassing Lindsey because, love him as I do, boy did not make the best lawyer ever). He's ruthless in the pursuit of winning his cases. He's funny as all hell. He actually has an amazing sincere and honest touch with people, considering what he's willing to do in his professional life. He is, in short, totally cool. I have been reading up on the background of Boston Legal and have learned that his character started on the last season of another show (The Practice) and his character was so popular that Boston Legal was born. I understand this completely, because he's, dude, amazing.

Item 2: Denny Crane is a highly amusing guy. And I find his friendship with Alan to be pretty neat -- they seem to be the most alike when it comes to dealing with cases, but I hear that they also have some interesting differences that I look forward to finding out more about. Also, he apparently guest-starred on the same season of The Practice that introduced Alan Shore, which means that I really want to see that season of that show.

Item 3: Interesting editing! In particular, I love how they enter a scene by giving us about three really fast closeups of objects in the scene before taking to the big picture. It's a technique that I haven't seen much before (if ever) and I find it very intriguing and effective.

In short, I have totally found a new show to love. Yay!

Yay! Boston Legal! I got sucked into The Practice in the last season just because of James Spader. They introduced Denny Crane at the end of the season when it was clear they were introducing the set-up for the new series. And you know what's even better? Alan Shore pretty much single-handedly destroyed the firm in The Practice. *loves*

I find this very easy to believe.

It's a really great show. I heard that there are two seasons so far and that they're having a third one this year?

If you think about it though, how often does a new character waltz onto the ninth season of a show, completely steal it, marginalize the regular characters that have been around for almost a decade and get his own spin-off? It would be like Monica Reyes getting her own show.

I believe so. I don't follow it, but any time I'm home on a Tuesday and tune in, it's like crack. They are so obviously manipulating the audience, and I can know that and still be taken in. It makes me feel like a bad, bad person but I enjoy it so much.

More proof of just how much ass Alan Shore kicks.

Hee, I know. We're not always (or even usually) rooting for the 'good guys'.
