How can no one had left a comment on this one yet? I love this. It's so amazing. It works very well at showing just how far they both came in being loners, to being togethe, to just how desolate, how empty, they are without each other there next to each other anymore.

I loves it!

Yes, exactly. Being with each other taught them how to love, and that's why losing each other hurt so much -- they're capable of a depth of emotion in a way that they weren't quite before.

And that's just not British!

They really did hug quite a lot. They were so sweet together. I don't know how I'm going to adjust to not having Rose there.

I hope they get someone nice for his next companion - probably a guy would be better so he doesn't resent them for not being Rose.

This is a question not specific to this video, but oh well. I'm interested in trying a new program from the one I'm using now, and I was wondering which program you use to make your videos? Just out of curiosity.

Very nice vid. I love all the little clips that show them being people -- the shot of them dancing, a clip with Ten smiling like an idiot, lying on the grass... They've done well with Rose and Nine and Ten, and you've done wonderfully capturing that. Cheers!

They really did such a wonderful job with the characters. Even though I adore Ten, I've missed Nine, and we haven't even had new episodes yet and I miss Rose. They're sharp, well-drawn people and I like them.

:06-:28 - You edited so well with the music building and building up in tension to
:28 - the strong beat amazingly.
:40-1:30 - I haven't watched the first one, but I still get sense of the emotion behind it all, so well done.
1:30-2:11 - Wonderful clip choicesof the second season. :)
2:04-2:07 - Love how you go from the first hug to the second, very different, hug. The editing and effect on that section is beautiful.
2:18 - Great "quieting down" then
2:40 - pushing it right back up.
2:50 - Lovely sunshiny burn effect.
2:55-3:02 - At first I wasn't digging the recoloring, but
3:03 - then you bring it back in such an awesome way, using the clip of him blowing on the part of the TARDIS, that I love it.

This song makes me sad all on its own, but coupled with Doctor Who... I'm a puddle.

Thank you so much! I love your specificity. It's wonderful to have time stamps to refer to when I'm rewatching the vid to see just what it is that you liked.

2:04-2:07 - Love how you go from the first hug to the second, very different, hug. The editing and effect on that section is beautiful.

I'm thrilled that the effects on the hug worked for you. I had it as straight jump-cuts for a while, but it didn't feel right, because the beat at the center was different enough from the other two that it needed to look different.

I'm glad that the recoloring worked for you in the end! I was nervous about that, because it does have a bit of the melodramatic feeling of love about it, but I do think that the Doctor and Rose's relationship is epic enough to have earned it.

And, again, thank you so much for the wonderful and specific feedback!

Just had to comment to tell you what an amazing video this is. I can watch it again and again and again and it's just so sad every time. The pacing and the editing make it feel so inevitable that they had to get to this moment on the beach.

Great how you started with the "ending" to jump back and tell the Doctors and Roses story from the beginning. Moments that especially stick out to me: 2:06 the jumping zoom out and 2:55 Rose's arm freezing in midair/time. Very well done!

Oh, I just love your feel for the music. I adored the way it's structured, the two series starting out separate and then merging toward the end there. And the sepia fading back into colour when he blows is just so gorgeous. And the lighting! I love the way you used additive dissolves here, it really echoed and enhanced the beautiful light of the source. Awesome vid.

Oh, I just love your feel for the music.

I feel in love with this song the second I heard it. And I knew right away what it was about, too. Both the Doctor and Rose get burned and get burned bad, but they'd put their hands in that fire all over again, if only they could.

I adored the way it's structured, the two series starting out separate and then merging toward the end there.

I was thrilled that the music worked out so perfectly for that. I loved Rose's distinct dynamic with each of the Doctor's and would hate to short-change the importance of either.

And the sepia fading back into colour when he blows is just so gorgeous.

Thanks! I really wanted some kind of push there, to show the vibrancy of memory, especially for someone like the Doctor.

And the lighting! I love the way you used additive dissolves here, it really echoed and enhanced the beautiful light of the source. Awesome vid.

Doctor Who is a seriously beautiful show and I was so glad that I could use that. It's such a lovely series.

Again, thank you so much for the feedback! It means so much coming from someone who creates such beautiful, meaningful vids.

Heya! I'm checking out your vids on imeem at the moment but just had to have this one for myself, so came here to download. I'm still sniffly over it. I honestly haven't seen that many Doctor Who vids that I really liked. I am one of those strange people who likes Ten better than Nine, and so the focus on the final Ten/Rose arc was really good for me. Plus, I love a good dash of tragedy AND I loved the song before I saw the vid. So it all clicked into place to make this probably my favourite DW vid yet. :-) Thank you!

I'm one of those wacky people, too. Nine was great and I loved Nine, but Ten felt like my Doctor in a way that I couldn't claim with Nine. Nine was just so broken and so close to co-dependent. Ten is somewhat past the PTSD.

Plus, I love a good dash of tragedy AND I loved the song before I saw the vid.

It's a fabulous song. I knew the second that I listened to it after watching Doomsday that it would be perfect. It just completely sums up the tragedy and the love. Because they are putting their hands into the fire, and they know it, and they do it anyway, because it's worth it.

Ten is somewhat past the PTSD.
Yup! Totally. Plus Ten works with my old love for skinny indie/britpop boys wearing sneakers and tight suits. And glasses!! *swoons* He plays to several of my loved attributes. The slightly manic, hyperactivity, the dorky, the playfulness! It suckers me in bad. The angst is still there but it's not all about the angst: so I'm grateful to Nine for treading that ground, but I prefer Ten.

It IS the perfect song. I haven't seen anyone nail the song choice for them the way you did. One of those 'OMG, YESSS!!' connections.

And DAMN he is cute! When's the show back, again? :-(

Well, I say 'joy'. I mean more that it speaks to the essence of love -- which is that joy and that pain and the knowledge that the joy is worth the pain. So, more complicated than 'joy'.

This video was responsible for making me watch Doctor Who. I had seen parts of Rose but the plastic mannequins sent me running away but when I saw this video I had to give it another chance.

It translated so well when I didn't have any context or idea about the characters or the relationships. It was heartbreaking and painful and so beautiful to watch that I had to order the series. It is one of my favourite videos of any fandom. (And I loved the shot of their feet dancing near the end moving perfectly with the music).

And now that I've watched both seasons the video is even more emotional and heart wrenching. The separation of the Rose and the Doctor accompanied with the flashbacks to their shear joy with one another make me ache in a way no other video has managed. I admit to finding it much more difficult to watch now that I know their story (though it remains one of my most watched videos). Plus, the song fits so perfectly with these characters. It was an excellent choice.

I honestly don't know whether I want to thank you for making such a lovely video that made me give this show a second chance or tell you how much you've broken me by introducing me to this show and to Rose and the Doctor only for series two to end with such sorrow. Anyway, thanks for creating such a wonderful video.

It feels a bit strange leaving comments a year late, but I only just discovered this, and - I'm almost speechless, actually.

It's hard to find something to say, because it's such a hugely emotional experience to watch your vid. Emotional in a wonderful, heartbreaking, jubilant way. The song, the clips, the pacing - all of it is absolutely perfect for Rose and the Doctor. This is a video I will watch over and over again, and never tire of, because it's just - it flows.

But trying to be more specific - oh, there was so much I loved in it! The transition between Nine and Ten, the quick succession of clips for the regeneration/recuperation/reawakening that shows Ten coming into his own. Makes me smile in wonder to see it all happen so fast, and it feels so very much like him. The same thing with the cuts of the Doctor and Rose on the beach - together, and then apart. Breaking my heart, not making me smile, but still that feeling of a few seconds of vid capturing the moment so perfectly. And the transition to the Doctor breathing life into the TARDIS and color into the picture - oh, so beautiful. Finally, I adore the mirroring moments of both regenerations with Rose. Couldn't say which I like most of them, because they all work so perfectly together, and again there's the feeling of, yes, this is it, this was what I was watching, what I loved...

Really, I just wanted to say thanks. For making this, and for sharing it, and for making me feel all these emotions again.

[livejournal.com profile] naye just rec'ed this, and glad she did! Beautifully done, nice use of effects, and I especially loved the montage of Rose with Nine & Ten at the end, great emphasis that they are both the Doctor (Ten is my Doctor wholly and completely, but there's no denying Chris Eccleston did a bang-up job...)

And, yes, one of the things that I love so much about Nine/Rose and Ten/Rose is that it's very clearly a progression of the same relationship -- it's Doctor/Rose, not truly any specific incarnation.
