The fuck?

Seriously, Cameron is so much more fucked up than I'd dreamed. I've been annoyed at Sam on SG-1 this season for acting like a giddy teen girl, but Cameron was so much worse tonight.

A) Sam would never pout around her house while she was needed at her job that, oh, what's the phase? Saves lives. Of course, Sam would also never quit out of martyrdom, either.
B) Sam would never say that Jack calling her a 'good scientist' wasn't a good enough reason to be on the team. Getting respect from your CO is a good thing.
C) Sam would never blackmail her boss into a date. And that's where Cameron made me go nearly speechless with rage.

"I'll come back to work if you date me?" After he's made it clear that he's not interested and yet also that he really wants her back at the job? She's seeking romantic favors before she'll come back to work. Pretty sure that there's a phrase for that, too.

Honestly, I'm not entirely sure that I've ever felt less respect for a tv character and for the people who wrote her. If we're honestly supposed to see her behavior as at all positive, then House is not the show for me.

It makes me want to apologise for Sam for being so hard on her, because there was clearly a lower place to which she could sink and yet didn't.

I decided to skip House in favor of Veronica Mars a while back (I'd been juggling them), and it was the beginnings of Cameron/House that forced my decision. Everything I've seen about the latest episode makes me glad that I did so. Although it would be good to grant Sam a bit more respect then I've felt for her this past season.

We've been having a big-ol' "What was she thinking?" post over on [livejournal.com profile] pagingdrhouse. The varying different takes on it and arguments for or against are fascinating--or at least they are if you're not too emotionally attached. (I already have one giant hot-button about this show, and thankfully it's not this.)

A phrase like: "Sexual harassment"? And, since Cameron is attractive, what do you want to bet we'll see that ever brought up?

I read some reactions to this week's episode before I got a chance to download it (was watching Veronica Mars last night), and now I'm thinking I just won't bother. The direction they've gone in recently make me think that this just isn't the show for me, so I may as well cut my losses now. Cripes, I thought Cameron was unprofessional before this. Blackmailing your boss into dating you? SO not acceptable behavior. Can you imagine them ever having a plotline where Chase told Dr. Cuddy he wouldn't work for her unless she put out? How well would *that* be received?

Thank you! I've heard a lot of positive reactions to her behavior and I just don't understand it at all for exactly the reasons that you said. I liked Cameron at first, but now she really needs someone to smack some sense into her. I really hope the show stops having these kind of plots because I really like it, but Cameron just makes me angry now.
