Got me out here in the water so deep...
Tell me how you gonna breathe without me.

I was actually sent this song back in November '07. I listened to it, loved the beat and the sound of the singers' voices, but thought that it was just a little too co-dependent for my Doctor and Rose.
Then, you know, "Turn Left" aired. And we learned that, if not for Donna, the Doctor would have let himself die. I blinked and then relistened to the "No Air" (and, by this time, I'd acquired more Jordin Sparks songs and really gotten to like her style even more). This time around, it fit. I played around with the song a bit and then realised that in order for it to work, the Doctor and Rose had to be 'on-screen' at the same time and yet separate. Split screens were a necessity. This led to much internal flailing of the 'will it be taken seriously if it has split screens?' variety. Which, obviously, I got over.
There’s no air, no air

I like being able to include Nine when it's appropriate for the vid -- he's still the Doctor, after all. But I always feel like I need to include the regeneration in the vid when I do that, so it doesn't always work out to have him there. I'm glad that it did this time.
Nice interplay of the splitscreens.
I'm pleased that they worked for you.

Date: 2008-09-02 04:43 am (UTC)I think the split screen really worked well, especially quite near the end where one side of the screen goes dark so the viewer can focus on one character at a time. Awesome job. :-D
I'm so glad that the split screens worked for you. I was quite nervous about those to start off with (though recently, more split screen stuff has been popping up -- I think it's coming back into style).

Date: 2008-09-02 04:44 am (UTC)I loved the split screen style, and loved the mask-type thing you did at 1:36.
I'm so glad that both of those worked for you. I wanted something with a little extra lift during that section of the song and worked around for quite some time to find something that looking right with the voice.

Date: 2008-09-03 02:29 am (UTC)I mean I wouldn't think twice about the song if I heard it on the radio or whatever, but it just totally is transformed here into something meaningful.
*gushes some more*
