While I'm fully planning on voting Obama against McCain, I'm going to take a few days to be sad that my choice for President seems to be officially out of consideration now.

Hillary Clinton: I was thrilled to vote for her. She made some good choices and some missteps, but I liked her views and what she had to say and hope that she has no plans on shutting up just because she's not going to be President. There's still a lot that she can do without that title and I hope she does good work.

It's nice to have people sharing my feelings.

I like Obama but I just can't work up the same kind of enthusiasm that I felt about Clinton with him. I admire his speeches from a rhetorical standpoint but have not been overwhelmed by them emotionally.

This is one thing I can agree with you on for sure. I wanted her to be the nominee more than anything. I'm sorta hoping that Obama chooses her to be on the ticket with him.

The vetting committee has made this impossible. Bill would have to disclose all the donors for his Presidential library and he doesn't want to do that.

Because the vetting committee requires complete economic transparency for the candidates and their families. We wouldn't want something to come back and bite the Democratic nominee in the ass.

I think this is very unlikely for political reasons. However, if he wins (please, God), I would love to see her in a high advisory capacity or with a cabinet position or the like. In most administrations, those positions mean much more than the VP, anyway.

Yeah. I mean, it's certainly very possible to not vote for Clinton without being an ass about it (I've several people on my flist who manage it with no effort at all), so why is it so hard for some people?

I just saw the most bizarre LJ post, it was 'Fuck you Hilary' with a large picture of Obama and then underneath 'I'll cry like a baby if/when Obama gets shot' and I was like...ummm...errr. OK.

That LJ user scared me.

Totally agree. I'm having a hard time getting excited over the general election. I'm hoping that will change by November. I haven't been excited about a general election in about 12 years.

I was cheered about the news that the Democratic Party is no longer accepting contributions from lobbyists. That made me feel a bit better. Plus, Obama and Clinton having a secret meeting that they shut the press out of cracks me up. So, there's that. But I still wish... *shrugs*

I voted for Hillary in large part because neither Obama nor Edwards was on the ballot (yes, I live in Michigan), and if she'd won the primary, I would have been more than happy to vote for her in the general, but as it stands, I have to say that I'm pleased that Obama is our candidate.

Really, I like Hillary much better when she's *not* running for office. I've always liked her, both as a person and in terms of her policy views, but these past couple months have really been painful to watch as her campaign got increasingly desperate. I certainly understand your disappointment in the result, though. So yes, I truly hope that she moves on from this and keeps pursuing the things she's passionate about and can be (continue to be? resume being?) a strong positive force from here on.

I wouldn't dare say anything in terms of opinions when it came to this topic in my LJ. I know I'd piss someone off on the friends list because the majority of them are Obama supporters and are quite enthusiastic. I didn't care to get slaughtered. I voted for Hillary. I too am saddened by this turn of events. We need a change, we need someone experienced, someone who'll go the extra mile. In my opinion, Obama is not nearly experienced for this. He has virtually unknown to most before this. In his speeches, I found that he never really gave examples of what he'd do, how he'd make changes. Just that it was time to make changes, and he'd be the one to do it. I'm in Arizona, and we know that McCain is full of shit. Unfortunately, this is a red state. And yet, everyone seems to be taken with him. Unfortunately, I for see McCain winning. Obama cannot beat McCain. Right now he only has a 2% lead over McCain in polls. Not exactly a promising start. This could be 4 years of Bush proportions all over again. *Runs scared in fear of getting skewered.*
