How It Is

Even though they'd been together for over a year, the heat and feel of Lance's mouth still surprised him. Every kiss was as powerful, as sweet, as the first. But mixed in with the newness was a sense of comfort and familiarity that Justin could only describe as making him feel like he'd found his home.

And if kissing Lance was coming home, touching Lance was very nearly an act of worship. He loved to spend hours stroking Lance's skin by candlelight. Some nights, after Lance had fallen asleep and the candles had died, he would stay up half the night, touching and tasting.

When he was alone with Lance, everything else was misty and unimportant. They could, and did, spend hours talking about everything. Talking... and sometimes fighting. Most recently, they'd fought over Lance's chance to go into space. They'd argued about it for over an hour before ending in screams and, for Justin, a few tears.

They'd made up before the week was out but during those days, life wasn't fun for any of the members of *NSYNC. Lance and Joey had gone off together, while Justin buried himself in faux dates with Britney and basketball and golf with Chris.

But they were used to that. That was just how it was.
