I cut. Just a little. Along the line of my vein on my left wrist. It could be a cat scratch, it's so small.

Cats never scratch me.

I wish I could get to sleep.

Diana, I really have no idea what to say, or even if I should say anything, but, for what it's worth, I hope you feel better. I'm always here if you want to talk.

Hey there. We haven't talked in ages but I just wanted to check in. I hope you are ok. The road you are on is scary - I know. Somehow you have to hold on and take care of you the best you can. Please know there are a lot of people out here that do care, that think you are a talented, generous soul. Please take care and be well. Also if you ever need to talk to someone who has more or less been there and bought the t-shirt, which is now faded and stretched out - well, I'm around ok? Hugs hon - hope things get better soon.

And maybe I'm just 'out there,' but why is it considered bad to cut?

I mean, you aren't damaging anyone but yourself. I feel I have the right to do whatever I please to my own damn body, so you should have that right, too, as long as we don't hurt others.

The case can be made that a cutter is hurting the people who care about her. But if cutting weren't considered bad, and if it were respected as a valid outlet, then it wouldn't be hurting them.

And I'll admit, there may be better (in the sense of less destructive, less risky) ways to vent strong emotion, but that doesn't make cutting wrong, does it?

So, I'm really sorry if this messes up your search for peace in any way. But really, I do want to know. Why is cutting "bad?"

In the meantime.... {{{{{{{{DM}}}}}}}}
Remember that you are loved.

Hee. Actually, those are all good and valid points. People wouldn't cut if they didn't have reasons and get something out of it.

The problem is that only helps short-term and it does tend to compound the shame, guilt, and anger. And most people don't get it. My mom's told me that she doesn't understand why I would ever do that.

Plus, it is, fundamentally, self-destructive in the most vital sense. You're causing yourself physical pain in order (at least in my case) to trigger emotional pain.

It's good to think about it and get it out.

Thanks. *hugs*
