Kid's shows...

Okay, I've watched Sesame Street, Between the Lions and Arthur enough with Sonny to form some opinions on children's television today.
It can be interesting. Although on occasion, my own boredom has led me to thinking of highly kinky things, they're pretty fucking wholesome. (For the record, the kinky things would include D.W. tying up and molesting her brother Arthur, and Gina (the SS vet) getting it on with Big Bird. And now you can probably see why this entry is friends-locked. Not even I will say 'getting it on with Big Bird' to everyone in the world.)
Anyway. Sesame Street is generally a lot of fun until 20 minutes 'til the hour. Which would be when the Elmo's World segment starts. Which is hell to watch. It just annoys me. Elmo's laugh really annoys me. Seriously, can the guy ever fucking stop? Is there anything in the world that doesn't amuse him? And the whole thing with Mr. Nudo just bugs me. I mean, nothing he does is right. I realize that that's the point, and yet, it feels like Elmo is using this poor man for his own amusement.
Between the Lions is wonderful. Seriously, it's such an enjoyable, compact half-hour. I can't even think of something about it that bugs me.
Arthur is generally fun. D.W. annoys me on occasion, but I think that she's supposed to.
So, in conclusion, overall children's television is pretty cool.

Date: 2002-08-27 06:34 pm (UTC)Actually when I was unemployed for so long a lot of tv watching was done, and with a 2 year old (well, 1 or so at the time) around, all we pretty much watched was Sesame Street, Teletubbies, and Clifford the Big Red Dog.
My brother really likes the Elmo's World portion of Sesame Street, but I'm not sure what the fixaction is with that part. I just get a kick out of the "Elmo loves his crayon" part. We also have this Elmo stuffed doll that sings his theme song but if you squeeze Dorothy (the fish) he sings underwater. I would rather prefer he's drowning.
Yeah, we all seem to have some children show issues. *g* But it's pretty good to watch when nothing else is on.
