Seriously, half the reason that I disliked Spike so much the past couple of years was all the "He's so amazing! And hot!" talk. Once I pulled out of TWoP and just let the Spike issue sit for a while, I really enjoyed him a lot more. I'm definitely still not a Spike 'shipper of any kind, because of the whole unrepentant murderer thing, and we don't know how his soul has changed him yet, not really.

Anyway, I like many things that I thought I didn't, after I let both the overwhelming praise or the bitter hate of others stop affecting me. Which is a nice feeling.

Word to everything you just said. I've recently left TWoP and I could see from watching just one new episode how much better it is.

*nods* The bitterness can't help but affect you, I think. It feeds on itself.

Fandom definitely has its disadvantages. I went through a period of severe dislike of Pacey just because of the unholy gushing that was going on over him at MBTV.

I started pulling back a lot because I don't like letting other people's viewing of the show and the characters cloud how I feel about them. It's easy to get caught up in that, and I'd rather experience the RAGE! or flove on my own terms.
