Let me know if there are problems with the files, I just got home from work and I'm a bit tired. (And still not caught up! I'm gonna have to start DLing).

Date: 2006-06-13 01:23 am (UTC)At the same time, your vid very adeptly shows how the Doctor has changed since his last incarnation, emotionally, physically, etc., and how he might continue to change in the future. I love the way you use Reinette. And I very much like how you've divided the vid and address Rose in the later half. While the Doctor is learning about himself all over again, Rose is learning about him as well, seeing differences and similarities. I think the idea of love (and love itself) is present in much of their interaction on the show -- not in a particularly sexual way, but in the sense of believing in and connecting to another person. That's what both characters need and what they find in each other, and you've captured that beautifully. Won't fear love, indeed. And you also show the passion that drives their convictions, their desire to see new things, to stand up for something. Yay.
The whole thing is hopeful and gorgeous, and I'm especially impressed with what you did with the then-limited source from series two. As well as how you tied in series one. (And I would give you specifics on that and many other statements I've just made, only I don't happen to have the file downloaded on this computer and I'm writing all of this from memory.) Anyway -- I really, really liked this vid! I think that's a good enough feedback conclusion as any. :)

Date: 2006-06-13 10:20 am (UTC)That right there is such a lovely compliment -- I'm thrilled that you like the vid enough to watch it multiple times. Yay!
It's gorgeous; you use color really well, and it seems like you're not afraid to simply have some beautiful scenes in there just to show the worlds that the Doctor and Rose live in. I like that.
Thank you! It's a beautiful show, and I loved being able to use some of those gorgeous scenes in the vid.
(And some, like the Doctor on the other side of the wall from the werewolf, can be taken as very interesting metaphors in the vid's context. I don't know if you intended it to be taken that way, but I got a kick out of it -- is the Doctor getting in touch with his inner "beast"? Ahem.)
If you believe there is Deep Inner Meaning, it is so there. Hee. Honestly, I did try to use clips that spoke to me not only of the lyrics, but of the sound and movement of the music, and of the context of the show.
At the same time, your vid very adeptly shows how the Doctor has changed since his last incarnation, emotionally, physically, etc., and how he might continue to change in the future.
That's pretty much exactly the goal that I started with when I began the vid. The idea that this thing surrounds what makes him different from who he was before.
I love the way you use Reinette.
Kisses are fun! But, yes, I was glad that the show gave me the shots that I wanted, there -- that was the last episode that I used (I think so, at least -- my memory is skittish and runs off at the slightest sign of a crowd), and I waited for that one because I was hoping to get the Doctor/Other footage that I needed.
And I very much like how you've divided the vid and address Rose in the later half. While the Doctor is learning about himself all over again, Rose is learning about him as well, seeing differences and similarities.
Thank you. This was actually a late addition to the vid (it was originally All Doctor, All the Time) and I'm so glad that it works. Because as I was doing the vid, I went -- hey, Rose is brave and reckless, too!

That was what made me feel the vid was appropriate for the tenth Doctor. He really does have a... recklessness that the ninth was too broken to revel in. He's actually a lot more like Rose, in this incarnation, which I find intensely interesting. And yes, the refrain on "won't fear love" -- in many ways, that sums up the difference between the two Doctors. The tenth Doctor has lost the ninth's desperate insecurity when it comes to affection (Rose's especially, but not just her).
And you also show the passion that drives their convictions, their desire to see new things, to stand up for something. Yay.
These are the things that I love best about the two of them -- their passion to discover and to help.

A wonderful conclusion! I'm so thrilled, again, that you liked the vid (would be turning cartwheels if I had the room). Thank you so much for the lovely feedback!
