Oh, that was incredibly horrible, what Angel just did. And it's interesting how it mirrored what Connor did to him, yes? "You get to live forever." Trapped with just a small window to the rest of the world, no way of reaching out.

Of course, the fact that it was really, terribly horrendous does not mean that I wasn't grinning like a loon when it happened. I'm right there with Angel on the express train to corruption.

And I thought my girl Eve was just wonderful tonight.

Well, the guy was evil. He sacrified other people's souls for hundreds of years just to keep himself out of Hell. He deserves a little solitary confinement =)

And yes, it reminded me of Angel's undersea adventure as well. Iiiinteresting.

Oh, yeah, no doubt he was evil. And yet... is it really Angel's place to condemn him to a living hell?

But Angel says it himself in this episode - he hates the word 'Champion' and he doesn't believe that any good deeds that he may do will keep him out of hell.

Angel's fresh out of hope.

Ooh, good call! I never thought of that but it totally does mirror what Connor did.

It really, really does. In fact, my first thought was, "Picked up a few tricks from your son, Angel?" Because I'm guessing living through that is what made him realize what a great hell it would make.

Yeah, definitely. Especially since Spike's reappearance just puts a stake in a hope of redemption - if you can't get to heaven after saving the world like Spike did, then what's there to look forward to?

Also, I doubt that Angel... no matter the fact that he thinks that what he did to Connor was for his own good, I doubt that Angel thinks that it's a heaven-worthy deed. In a way, he's doing what Wesley was doing in trying to take Connor - considering himself the sacrificable one.

Wesley's always (since he found Angel, at least) considered the good fight more important than his own skin or his own soul. Now that Angel considers his own soul too tarnished for any kind of redeemption, there's no reason not to break the rules to save people. Hence the killing (and torture) of human baddies. He already believes himself too far gone to be saved, so there's no point in holding back.

Not surprised that he's working well with Eve - I'm sure that she totally supports his new set of morals. W&H has always seemed to consider Angel to be something special - she probably considers corrupting him well worth losing people who are already corrupt.
