More on Angel
Oct. 16th, 2003 05:25 pmI like the ME titles. Not as much as I enjoy the Andromeda titles (though I think that those have actually become the best part of the show on occasion, which isn't such a good thing), but quite a lot. There's always an obvious meaning and usually some deeper ones (though not in BtVS S1... he hadn't gotten the knack, yet. Though I do enjoy The Pack's two packs - the villain one and also the one forming between Buffy/Willow/Xander/Giles (which even corresponds to a hyena pack by having a female leader)).
So, what does Unleashed mean? Honestly, I'll need a while to think about that. Have some thoughts, but they haven't gelled yet.
We were reminded that all of the AI team are willing to be as ruthless as they need to be. Not a surprise... we saw these people in S4. We do know them and that they are willing to do what it takes. And it seems that though Angel wiped their memories, it didn't change the fact that their way of dealing with the world had evolved. Nothing that happened in S4 unhappened, they just don't remember any of it.
We just had the credits group in this episode - no Harmony, no Knox, no Eve. This was very much a family episode, starting with suspicious conversations in the dark but ending in group dinner planning. And everyone got to see Angel's place for the first time. Wesley seemed to be suspicious of both Fred (too close to Knox) and Gunn (too close to the Senior Partners) in the beginning. Angel, on the other hand, he seems to still trust explicitly, which makes me go 'ouch' if they have him remember things. Because that's a huge betrayal of trust.
And Spike confirmed that one of the reasons he went to Fred is because he figured that Wes would tell Angel. I adored that fake history. Hilarious stuff. I remember believing at the beginning (though going 'and you made that up for this episode') and then eventually just going, "Oh, come on." Hee.
Like that Hell's trying to suck Spike in. And not just because I'm petty, but also because it's a cool plotline for them to explore.
Still liked Nina. And I like that there are different kinds of werewolves. That's interesting. And smart of them to say. And seeing werewolvism from the inside was fascinating. And poor Nina, deciding that the only way to keep the people she loved was to keep them ignorant (*coughangelyouidiot*cough*). And you know, I get the reunion. The sister did the angry thing and she was probably worried that she'd driven Nina away and she wasn't going to do that again. Hence, smiles and hugs. Also, didn't really mind Angel/Wes/Spike not mentioning Oz, because none of them knew Oz that well. Xander would have mentioned Oz, but there is a lack of Xander on Angel.
I'm trying to feel bad for the guy who might have been eaten, but he was going to eat a person and somehow, my sympathy kinda goes away. I mean, that would be a horrible and torturous way to die, so I do hope that he didn't die that way, but there's still a feeling of 'brought it on yourself'. Which is probably what Angel was feeling. About all three of the guys that he's killed in these first three eps. Guessing that's a bad way to go and that Angel'll learn. But I don't feel as bad about it as I did about the lawyer massacre (I'm sure that I remember someone in there serving drinks. He might not have been evil!).

I mean, if it all happened but they don't remember, does that mean Wes and Gunn don't hate each other? Does Wes remember being ostracized and his affair with Lilah? Are they aware Angel turned evil again for a while? Do they remember the Beast? And why exactly do they think Cordy's in a coma?
It seems like undoing a lot of memories would be a lot harder than making them up, a la Dawn.

If you want Xander or at least attempt to go to Angel...

Don't know if it'll do anything. But wouldn't hurt would it?
