butterfly: (The Beginning - B/X)

This year marks my fifth year on livejournal. Not to the date, but just by the years - I started my journal in 1999. I started in November - my first post is on November 11th, 1999.

I've passed my fourth anniversary here. I've been posting for roughly 4 years and two months (though there is a year and six month lapse between when I first started and when I started posting regularly). Since June 2nd, 2001, I've posted at least once a month. I've posted at least once a week since July 18th, 2001.

I've posted 3,247 (now 3,248) times... not all public, of course. 295 journals have me friended, not including communities. I'm certainly no Big Name Fan in any of the fandoms that I frequent, but I'm not completely unknown.

I like my life. I don't really long for more than what I have. As long as I make enough money to pay rent and to pay for cable (including cable modem), plus a bit extra for fannish fun, then I'm good. I don't need more. I feel like I'm supposed to want more, but in my heart, I am a bit of a hobbit, really.

It's no bad thing to celebrate a simple life.

One of the things I love about lj is that you find someone who has similar tastes to you and one day you wonder I wonder what they thought about so and so and bang, there is a whole history of thoughts on everything just there waiting to be explored at your leisure!

That is nice. And it's also nice to wander the fields of your own past. To see things that you can't remember feeling. It's so weird, remembering, for instance, that once upon a time, not too long ago, I didn't like Angel - but the proof is right there in my entries.
