Those snake-helmets must weigh a lot. Then again, if they have more advanced tech and such, they've probably got a good, strong, yet light material. Hmm.

First impression of Jack? I really like him. He looks at stars, he disclaims his honorific, and he has a great coat. Plus, great dead-pan sense of humor.

Military debriefing is a good way to get through exposition. Feels natural.

Okay, I really like Jack for not prioritising the innocent people of his planet over the innocents of another.

Hee. I got a minor thrill from hearing the name 'Kowalski' (at least, that's what it sounds like), even attached to the wrong man.

Oh! The cuteness of sending tissue paper for Jackson! Who has allergies! Cute! Cute! Cute!

Sadly, I like the way Jack looks better when he's out of uniform.

Sam is a bit... overeager. Then again, she's probably been facing discrimination and disregard all her career, so I'll try to be understanding.

Nah, she's just pushy as all hell.

Daniel is... hmm. Complex. Interesting.

I love the scientific by-play between Sam and Daniel. With Jack, she tries too hard, but with Daniel, she's just herself. I like that better.

Jack's nicer to Daniel when they're alone. Interesting.

Jack really does have no patience for the science side of things. Amusing. I love how he 'whatever's Daniel's explanations.

I wasn't expecting the nudity, I must say. No one mentioned the nudity.

Daniel looks as though he's constantly assessing everything.

Teal'c (I'm pretty sure that that spelling is correct) seems interesting. Cool 'hero' shot at the end of the four of them -- Teal'c, Sam, Jack, and Daniel.

Very interesting show.

Oh, I do enjoy some snarky Sam. But anything that's not "I am a WOMAN with an important JOB and therefore am a REACTIONARY FEMINIST!" Sam is good.

After reading some interviews with Amanda Tapping and hearing her on a couple of commentaries, I have so much respect for her. I really feel she's imbued the character with a lot of what makes Sam original and accessible.

That's good to know. I just really get the 'trying too hard' feel from her -- though not in her interactions with Daniel. They had a good 'same wave-length' vibe. They could probably make good friends (I say in complete unawareness of whether or not they do).

Oh, but Sam from, 1x04-ish to the end of S3 is gold! And after the Bad Hair of early S4 goes, she's pretty much cool again, with the occasional hiccup.

I actually got the feeling that she liked him. Because she really went to a lot of effort to get to him (and it pretty much slid off him like water on a duck). She's aggressive with him in a way that she isn't with any of the other characters (granted, she's not around the others as much). I can definitely see her having a thing for him... I just don't see him returning the feeling because...

No one can resist the lure of Stargate after they see the 'cheap date' scene. *g*

Sam gets less pushy; if you keep watching, you'll see a great deal of character change and growth in all of them. First season contains a lot of adjustments and tweaking, and some quirks that they stopped altogether, after a short while.

It's a deal-breaker. I mean, I was willing to say that maybe Jack was staring at the Sha're/Daniel kissage because... I don't know, he hasn't kissed anyone since whatever... his wife left or something? I mean, that's totally weak, but until the 'cheap date' comment, I at least could entertain the thought without immediately dissolving into laughter.

I think Series-Jack is better than movie-Jack and series-Daniel is equally as good as movie-Daniel. Considering I love James Spader's Daniel in the movie, that second part was a big concession for me to make.

I think Series-Jack is better than movie-Jack and series-Daniel is equally as good as movie-Daniel. Considering I love James Spader's Daniel in the movie, that second part was a big concession for me to make.

I'm thinking of renting out the movie as well, because I want to see Daniel Save Jack From Suicide.

Sha're was Sha'ure in the movie. I'm not really sure why they changed it, but just FYI in case you come across the latter spelling anywhere.

CotG and tEW are some of the stronger opening eps I've ever seen on a show - I can't wait to see you work your way through the rest of them.

I'm not the biggest fan of military uniforms.

CotG and tEW are some of the stronger opening eps I've ever seen on a show - I can't wait to see you work your way through the rest of them.

Then I'll be looking forward to the next episode. Ah, and I was told that the third episode might be the worst of the series. Confirmation?

Dude! You're watching Stargate now? This is like Christmas!

I caught the pilot on Sci-Fi right at the scene where Daniel is telling the Abydonians that he has to leave and I fell hard. Even the horror that is Emancipation only dulled my love for an instant (I had to get online at TWoP and ask if that episode was atypical for the series, because I was terrified they would all be that bad).

In the movie, *James Spader* played Daniel and Kurt Russell was Jack. Way slashy, now that I have the eyes to see. After their adventures there, they have a bond that no one else can share. It's just lovely.

I can't wait to hear what you think of the rest of the show!
