I'm making an attempt to kick the caffeine habit. It helps when I remind myself that it's an addictive drug and thus bad and also thus something that I can beat (I have a huge dislike of the idea of being addicted to anything.).

But, fuck, caffeine-withdrawal headaches suck. They're a different breed of suck from normal headaches and from migraines (worse than the former, easier to take than the latter).

They're just... pervasive.

But, but, it's caffeine!
Hey, you're 'addicted' to food too, right? And sleep? Just accept caffeine as a Thing Without Which Life Doesn't Really Work.

You don't know the extent of my stubborn want to be independent -- if I could kick sleep and food without dying or going insane, I would be trying.

Nope, the caffeine habit is going down.

Your absolutely right on caffeine being an addictive drug and I wish you the best of luck with quiting(she says, tightly holding a caffeine laden soda close to her chest).

Thank you very kindly. I just have to avoid temptation. Which I can do. My parents both quit smoking, so I have quitter's genes, dammit (*hopes that such a thing as 'quitter's genes' exists*).

oh yeah. The caffeine headaches get me every time and I just cave. I pop an Excedrin (full of the caff) and all is right in the world again.

...I'm weak that way.

I've tried before and always given in, but this time, I've got my stubborn "no drug will be the boss of me" attitude, which I hope will prevail.

You know, I've tried so many times to kick the caffeine habit and the withdrawal headaches make it impossible. I feel your pain.

It hurts! But I knew it would hurt going in, because I have tried before and gotten kicked. I'm going to try to stand firm, no matter how good a nice, cold coke would be.

*whimpers*

You're a much stronger person than me. I've tried to kick my caffeine addiction to no avail.

Don't compliment me just yet, as I may yet break. It really is a very painful feeling.

Oh, yeah. I once went cold turkey from a two-pots-of-coffee-a-day habit. That hurt.

Good luck to you!

But you did it?

*sigh of relief*

Okay, good. It can be done. Reassurance is a good thing. Thank you.
