butterfly: (Kicking Ass - due South)

The due South fandom is very impressive. The show has been off the air for quite some time and the fandom is still very active. It's alive and jumping. It says great things about the show that it's still hooking people. I've personally addicted at least two people to dS since I started watching. It's infectious and fun and yet has levels. You can watch for the sheer hilarity of burning cars, or the hotness of the various leads. You can watch for the subtext of the various relationships. And there's so much interesting information.

due South has made me a fan of Canada. If not for dS, I wouldn't have seen Men with Brooms and thus wouldn't have ever noticed the existence of curling, which is a graceful and gorgeous sport. I've tried pemmican. I say 'Inuit'.

dS isn't just entertaining, it's educational. It's also very ethical and it has such heart. It has a very genuine heart.

Every time that I rewatch an episode or read fanfic or talk about the show, I fall a little bit more in love.

I love due South.

It helps, doesn't it? Falling in love with a new show around cancellation time.

It's certainly more comforting to throw my love at a show that isn't about to die. Re: Angel, I feel like stomping around, because it's ending too soon. It wasn't meant to end this year, they weren't planning on ending it. Throws off the whole vibe. dS ended right, ended the best way. dS saluted and went off to explore the horizon, while Angel is being murdered by an uncaring network.

Oh, certainly that's true. What I meant was... right now my primary fandom obsession is Stargate, despite Angel overall being my favourite show. I get the impression the same's true for you and due South. And it eases the pain of cancellation now that we're less focused on Angel.

I have to say that your recent posts about the show have made me incredibly interested in watching it. Alas! I have no way of seeing any episodes (at this point in time - I think), as Netflix doesn't even carry one lousy season set.

That sucks...

You live in the US, right? I'm dubbing S4 to send to a friend, and I never need an excuse to watch more dS. I could make a... 'greatest hits' tape or two.

Really? If it didn't trouble you at all, that would be stupendous. Is there anything I'd be able to do in return?

Honestly, I mostly just want to know how you like it (love Kowalski or die!... kidding... mostly). These tapes were given to me like manna from heaven (seriously, she wouldn't even accept me giving her money to cover postage), so I'm all about sharing the giddy joy.

My email is butterfly_in_motion@hotmail.com if you want to send your address. I can't promise as to when it'll get done (first I need to figure out which episodes are 'must-see's) but it will happen. Also, put 'due South' somewhere in the subject line so that I don't accidentally delete it as junk mail.

Yeah, I'm so thrilled to have found the fandom. The show just hit me out of nowhere.

I think that I was at a gathering to watch... Smallville. It was before I was watching the show, so I was getting caught up on the slashiness of it all. And someone had Mountie on the Bounty and I tumbled. The snark, the hotness, the slashiness, the cuteness. A wolf. Fraser. Ray. Francesca. It was a revelation.

My experience mirrors yours. Due SOUTH is real eye opener for me. I'm still in love with DS.
I really like your essay and fics. Hope you keep writing.:)

Thanks.

It's such a worthy show to love. It's good-natured and sweet and deep and funny.
