due South: fandom
May. 5th, 2004 03:43 pmThe due South fandom is very impressive. The show has been off the air for quite some time and the fandom is still very active. It's alive and jumping. It says great things about the show that it's still hooking people. I've personally addicted at least two people to dS since I started watching. It's infectious and fun and yet has levels. You can watch for the sheer hilarity of burning cars, or the hotness of the various leads. You can watch for the subtext of the various relationships. And there's so much interesting information.
due South has made me a fan of Canada. If not for dS, I wouldn't have seen Men with Brooms and thus wouldn't have ever noticed the existence of curling, which is a graceful and gorgeous sport. I've tried pemmican. I say 'Inuit'.
dS isn't just entertaining, it's educational. It's also very ethical and it has such heart. It has a very genuine heart.
Every time that I rewatch an episode or read fanfic or talk about the show, I fall a little bit more in love.
I love due South.

Date: 2004-05-06 01:07 am (UTC)You live in the US, right? I'm dubbing S4 to send to a friend, and I never need an excuse to watch more dS. I could make a... 'greatest hits' tape or two.

I can't promise as to when it'll get done (first I need to figure out which episodes are 'must-see's) but it will happen. Also, put 'due South' somewhere in the subject line so that I don't accidentally delete it as junk mail.

Date: 2004-05-06 01:10 am (UTC)I think that I was at a gathering to watch... Smallville. It was before I was watching the show, so I was getting caught up on the slashiness of it all. And someone had Mountie on the Bounty and I tumbled. The snark, the hotness, the slashiness, the cuteness. A wolf. Fraser. Ray. Francesca. It was a revelation.
