butterfly: (Who We Are - Daniel (by destina))

I'm watching season five now.

Oh! Oh! Dr. Frasier is unutterably pretty.

*giggles*

She's so professional and caring and pretty and the bestest doctor ever and I might have a crush. Just a little one.

I've now seen Meridian and Revelations, then I skipped back to the beginning. I've watched Enemies and Threshold and am just about to start Ascension.

But I thought I'd take a moment to mention that I'm in love with Janet Frasier.

Also, Daniel Jackson is, like, the bravest, smartest, bestest guy ever. Plus? Character arc like woah. And how many times does he die, anyway? I've seen him die twice (shades of Buffy). Are there more?

And Jack is so snarky and hiding his love and tough and subversive and just so cool!

God! Look at the incoherence of me. I sound all of sixteen. This is what falling in love does, you know -- turns you into a blithering idiot. I just love this show and Daniel and Jack and Janet and Teal'c (who made me cry in Revelations) and Sam and Hammond and...

*sigh*

Soinlove.

Oh, Fraiser's wonderful! I so want to see fic where all of SG-1 fancy her madly and try to get extra bruises so they can spend more time in the infirmary with her.

Her hair's much better in earlier seasons, though. Ooh, Fraiser in Hathor! You seriously have to see that. *pimping the S1*

Ooo! She begins sometime in S1, then? Couldn't be in the first three eps, though. I'd have noticed her (right?). Because a) pretty and b) doctor.

Her first ep is 1x04! Okay, now you really, really have to continue watching S1!

Oh, good! And that will drag you back into the S1 groove - it's a great episode. Then 5 is good, 6 is ABSOLUTELY REQUIRED JACK-ANGST AND JACK-BACKSTORY VIEWING, 7 introduces the Nox, very important, amusing, 8 introduces nanites, also very important, 9 is the first ep with an Asgard, 10 OMG ONE OF THE BEST DANIEL EPISODES OF ALL TIME... I'll stop at that high point (specially since 11 totally contradicts all later Jaffa canon and makes me see red even though it has one of the most memorable Daniel moments of S1) and let you get back to your fun.

(12? Another ultimate Daniel ep. Just, you know, in case you happened to like him or something.)

AND HAHA 13 HATHOR AND YES MY S1 LOVE IS PROVING TRULY IRREPRESSIBLE.

I'm a bit confused actually and maybe you can clear it up -- The Nox wasn't the seventh episode for me. I'll actually be getting it on the third disc, as the twelfth episode. Oh, hey, does it have Armin Shimmerman? I heard that an episode had him.

Also? Wow, Daniel is getting so much character development. Like, so much more than anyone else.

The fuck? But, but, that's not right. That makes no sense whatsover.
What *is* the order you have?
Let's see, when I searched for files on Kazaa, The Nox was 1x07, and that's what the SG-1 Information Archive has it as... there's confusion in some later seasons because of S1 only having 21 eps and the pilot being a double, but changing from 7 to 12 is crazy.

Anyway, yes! Another reason to love S1 - it's basically All About Daniel.

The order on the dvds is thus --
Children of the Gods
The Enemy Within
Emancipation
The Broca Divide
The First Commandment
Brief Candle
Cold Lazarus
Thor's Hammer
The Torment of Tantalus
Bloodlines
Fire and Water
The Nox
Hathor
Cor-Ai
Singularity
Enigma
Tin Man
Solitudes
There But for the Grace of God
Politics
Within the Serpent's Grasp

Anyway, yes! Another reason to love S1 - it's basically All About Daniel.

This is possibly because the movie pretty much was, too.

Okay. Weird. Compare with the airdates - there's lots of differences. About seven episodes are in the wrong places. Why on earth did they do this?

That's really very interesting. Though, the most likely idea to me is that the show aired out of production order, which happens a lot, and they put it back into the original order in the dvd set (which is what happened with Firefly).

Buffy? Who is Buffy? Oh, that's right, the girl that died only twice... ,-)

Daniel dies the first time in the original movie, where he gets revived by Ra.
He then dies again in season 1(The Nox), and is tought to be dead in "Fire and Water".

In Season 2, he probably dies in "The Serpent's Lair". I'm not sure if he was really dead in the later one, but as far as I can tell, it's the general opinion in fandom that he was dead. It's safe to say that everyone assumed he was dead.

Season 3 is a got season for him, no canon deaths. Just some torture and alien body swaps, the usual.

He dies in season 4 (The Light), but only for a few seconds. Jack fails to perform CPR, and we hate him for that. What's the point of dying if you don't even get some lip action out of it?

And then there is the "big death" in Meridian. It took him quite some time to recover from that, but since then, he stayed alive.

So, that makes four confirmed deaths and one possible death in The Serpent's Lair.

He really doesn't have the best luck in the world.

Thank you.

It's so wonderful to see someone fall just as hard and fast for SG-1 as I did.

Dude! And you know this, because! But! Daniel! Jack! Teal'c! Sam! Janet! *sigh*

They're very cool characters.

I'm wishing that I'd started sooner. On the other hand, it's good to be starting while I'm in such a generous frame of mind -- there are times in the past where I did resent one character 'taking another's place', as it were. But now I'm mature enough to say, "Well, yes, Daniel was pretty. But hey, Jonas? Also pretty."

Yeees... can you imagine starting mid-S5? The despair! The Weltschmerz! The utter hatred of Jonas!

Instead, from a mature, S7-spoiled standpoint, we can look at all the kerfluffle-causing stuff and view it in perspective.

Hee, yes. I feel the same way about due South, actually. I missed the Ray Wars! Thank God!

Only in this case, of course, it's, "I missed the whole 'Save Daniel Jackson' thing, thank god!".
