Incredibly adorable opener. The sheer coupleness of Daniel and Jack this season continues to amaze me. Daniel totally has Jack wrapped around his finger (as if that much weren't obvious from Icon).

Daniel and Sam were very cute together (holding onto each other for emotional support! Aw!) when talking to Ry'ac and Korin (?). Whom I really liked, actually. And note the lack of kneeling at the end of the episode. Good for the both of them (though I also noticed that he's still focused on her beauty in his half -- he seems a bit overwhelmed by it when he's near her, since when he's with Bra'tac, he can mention things like her fighting ability).

I didn't find the planet stuff that interesting. You put a Jaffa on a planet, have him fight for freedom, and I kinda tune out. It's... boring. Which is sad, because I actually really like the idea -- Teal'c as Moses, etc. But the Jaffa are so... they're... I mean, two people in that tent thought to duck -- Teal'c and Not A Traitor guy. Two. This is a sad ratio for a freedom fighting army.

I've really been enjoying Atlantis. For the most part, I like the characters (Teyla's hair makes me cringe, though). I like the universe. I think that it has potential. There's no character in Atlantis that I like as much as Daniel Jackson, but since Daniel's my biggest crush since Benton Fraser, that's a tall order to fill.

One of the things that I loved was Sheppard realizing that something was wrong and deciding to play along. Until he finally couldn't take it any more (because seeing your dead buddies tell stories can be too much, I get that). But he figured it out pretty early on, and then manipulated it. Ancient genes, probably. Wonder if Jack or Daniel would have been able to do that? Probably not.

I loved the intercut Weir/McKay scene. And poor, poor Ford. His was almost all tell, only one show scene (with the Fake McKay).

Hee. I know, right? They've clearly spent too much time around the walking strategic disaster areas that are the goa'uld.

Yes.

Or, it could come from carrying the Goa'uld inside themselves for too long. Like stupidity by osmosis.

he sheer coupleness of Daniel and Jack this season continues to amaze me.

I loved the opening scene with Daniel just walking and Jack following, and even backtracking to make sure he stays with Daniel - and then we find out that it was all due to Jack asking the innocuous "how're things goin'?" Hee!

Also, the way Daniel asked who was going to tell Jack (boyfriend duty) and standing close at the wedding - all very couplish.

I did like Daniel and Sam, though, with the hand on the shoulder/hand holding because it could be taken as shippy but also felt like it was an organic thing of them both seeing this child (to them) getting married and realizing how many years it's been. It felt a lot more comfortable and "real" then that forced Jack and Sam moment. Sigh.

This is a sad ratio for a freedom fighting army.

Jaffa are apparently all trained in the same school as Star Trek redshirts. The brain donor school of defense.

I've really been enjoying Atlantis

Me too! Actually, a little more than SG-1 because I feel as if the SG-1 characters have in some ways plateaued in their relationships, while we're still seeing the Atlantis people form bonds.

That said, loved SG-1 much more than Atlantis last night - loved the J/D interactions and excitement. I was just confused about Atlantis (not the plot, which was obvious, but what they were trying to say about the characters).

Still, I heart McKay sooo much, because an uber-geeky science nerd with drama queen tendencies? He had me at "we're doomed!" - the first one.

That was pretty adorable. And I can imagine that happening -- poor Jack, just asking simple questions and getting a universe as an answer.

Very, very adorable.

And even Jack totally thought the Jack&Sam moment was contrived. But yeah, the Daniel&Sam touching felt more organic because the show didn't bring attention to it. It simply slid into the moment and existed.

My new theory is that they absorb the Goa'uld stupidity by diffusion.

It's neat, yeah. The snarky friendship of McKay and Sheppard, the respect between Weir and Sheppard.

I actually really adore the SG-1 episode... when the Jaffa weren't on the planet. Loved the stuff in the SGC. Horse! And the J/D stuff was great.

McKay's fun. And he's actually much more self-aware and less arrogant than he lets on (as shown by his delusion.

Exactly! It worked because it wasn't forced on us With Intent.

Hee! Yep, definitely could be that. Or, you know, just carrying a Goa'uld makes you stupid. It released the protein "dum" into the blood maybe?

Horse!

Oh yeah, totally cracked me up - especially when Jack and Sam had to crowd into the wall to get out of the horse's way and Jack patted the rump as it passed (actually, probably the sign of a rider, since first thing you learn is make sure the horse is always aware of where you are so he doesn't freak from unexpected movement - so keeping a hand on the rump when behind the horse is essential).

Definitely. I don't think I said so here, but in other people's LJ's I've commented that the very fact that in his own dream he made his answering machine empty and later commented knew he should have questioned his neighbor's sudden interest show that he's not nearly as arrogant as would be believe purely from what he says normally. And he's aware that he's lonely/doesn't have many friends. I think that was also alluded to with the fact he doesn't want to return to earth if it was a one way trip - he has nothing there and is slowly forging friendships here, to a certain extent out of necessity.

And the Jack&Sam moments are always so intenty. They jump up and down for attention like a bored toddler. They are, in other words, really annoying.

I like the idea of Jack as a rider (and I remember being taught that, actually -- though I haven't been near a horse to ride in far too long).

Right, in Atlantis, he has a snark-buddy in the form of Sheppard, his friendship with Beckett, and the respect and liking that he has with Elizabeth. That's already three more people than he matters to on Earth.

Yeah it must be weird to hear your dead friends tell stories. Especially when one of them says "supposebly". *shudder*

Hee. Poor Shep, torturing himself by having his dead friend hallucinations be accurate to the point of them using non-word.
