*sigh*

I love Queer as Folk (UK). It's absolutely perfect. The story of Vince and Stuart is a glorious and wonderful one. They're fantastic.

Glorious and wonderful but that shag will never happen.

And if not, it'll be Vince's own fault, as Stuart showed willing on more than one occasion.

On the other hand, all the rumors are true, as I recall.

It's a toss-up for me, because part of me simply adores the idea of Stuart shagging his way across the States. Who could resist him? Who would want to?

If I became a man for a day, having a shag with Stuart would be the first thing on my list (because in a world where I can magically become a man for a day, Stuart would exist as a real person).

He always looks like he's having the most fantastic time in his life when he's having sex. This is probably why I never got attached to Brian of the US series -- he lacked Stuart's sheer enthusiasm for sex. Stuart may not always be the most handsome man in the room, but he's always the sexiest.

Amen :-)

He's not always the most technically attractive, but he is always the sexiest.

And you're right, there's just something missing in Brian that Stuart had by the bucketload :-)

Joie de vivre. That's Stuart, aye. What he does, he does with his entire self. And that's dead sexy.

Stuart always reminded me of a predator. From that first scene where he walked up to Nate. He was just... STALKING rather than walking.

I love QAF UK.

Oh, yes. I love how he glances over at Nathan, then continues to move on... then he pauses and glances back over. Assessing his prey of the night.

And Stuart's walk is truly a thing of beauty.

Oh that's exactly why I prefer Stuart to Brian; Stuart is having sucha great time. I love his gleeful little boy smile, too. Season 1 Brian is so filled with ennnui that I wanted to slap him sometimes.

I realize they are different character with different backstories, but still...I prefer the original.

And I think in the best of all possible worlds, Vince got his shag one day.

And Stuart's nicer than Brian, too. In the UK, it's Stuart who thinks to clean out Phil's porn stash. In the US version, they give the equivalent job to Michael and Em. Stuart talks big, but his friends are willing to take the piss out of him at all times, especially Vince. He just doesn't think sometimes ("How's Peter?" "Still dead.").

Stuart's a good person who just likes to have lots and lots of sex. And he didn't hate straights like Brian does -- he just didn't really care. And he casually insults 'the lesbians', but he casually insults everyone. That's just who he is, and all the wonderful stuff that he also is balance all that shite out. I really understand Vince's devotion to Stuart, because we see that Stuart is just as devoted to him. It feels equal in a way that Michael and Brian don't, at least not to me.

And re: the shag, yeah, I think they did. But snarky best friends who end up together sleeping together are my kink.

"The one night stand that never went away." Hee. Yes, Nathan is very important -- he's the catalyst for the entire series, after all. But he really should see someone. About that thing. On his face.

*looks innocent*

Yay! I love it, too. So good. The characters are so real, in ways that US QaF, much as I enjoy it, can't seem to manage.

Well, they went and stripped away some of the layers, starting at the very beginning. Making Justin 17 made him seem very naive compared to Nathan's cocky 15. They took away a lot of what made Stuart such a star -- he'll go to the wall for you while complaining incessantly about how much trouble you are. And he's vulnerable in a way that Brian wasn't (I don't know if that's changed since I stopped watching). And Brian is all alpha and top dog about it all, while Stuart was just about the sex. Stuart will get on his knees, because sex isn't about dignity -- it's about having a bloody good time and if Stuart Alan Jones wants to give a man a blow job, he's not going to worry that it'll make him look weak. He knows that he isn't. He knows that he's lovely and that's enough for him.

And Vince... much as I adore Hal Sparks and Michael, Michael comes across as stunted in a way that Vince didn't. Vince is a fan, Michael's been fucked up by his mom (don't get me started on how much better Hazel is, mom-wise) and Brian.

Word, word, and word. On all counts.

I do think Brian does become a more sympathetic character as the show goes on, but he's no Stuart, that's for sure.

Well, I suppose that the world would explode if there were more than one Stuart, so it's probably for the best.

I've thought about giving the US version another try, but I'm just not as interested in that kind of love story. I like snarky best friends. I must have my snarky best friends or I will pine away and perish.

Oh, that was the sweetest thing. Stuart just... he's wonderful, he really is. "It was good enough for me." Such a lovely man -- and he knows it, clever bastard.

And eee! Love the icon. That's from the second series, yes? I haven't actually seen it yet. I'm hoping that they'll come out with collector's edition dvds for region 1.

It is indeed from QAF2.

I actually own the Collector's Edition DVD set, despite not owning a multi-region DVD player. Which is... rather silly, but, there you have it.

Makes sense to me. Sometimes, just the pleasure of owning overcomes the little detail of not being able to watch.

It really is. Cowlip took a beautifully sketched-out character drama and turned it into overblown melodrama.
