1. What did you do in 2004 that you'd never done before?
Got a loan from my credit union for a car; got a credit card; went to VividCon.
2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
My only resolution last year was to stop letting other people's issue cause me to doubt myself. I've really made great strides in that area. I believe that my next resolution is going to be about reaching out and trying to foster a sense of community and hope.
3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Not as far as I know, but a woman at work is pregnant and about to give birth.
4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not this year.
5. What countries did you visit?
None.
6. What would you like to have in 2005 that you lacked in 2004?
A full-time job that doesn't involve asking people what they'd like to eat. As I currently have a part-time job with my aunt, this is a good possiblity. Also, a finished long story. Hopefully my AU.
7. What date from 2004 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
I don't really remember dates. Events slip from their anchor in time.
8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Going to VividCon. I was so terrified.
9. What was your biggest failure?
Killing my old car. It was all my fault that it died.
10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Just that recent ankle thing and the (many) usual headaches.
11. What was the best thing you bought?
$350 of Stargate SG-1. So much in love.
12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
All of the Stargate people have been incredibly welcoming.
13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
The United States government.
14. Where did most of your money go?
The newer car, living expenses, and then fandom.
15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Stargate SG-1, VividCon, getting out to see
16. What song will always remind you of 2004?
I couldn't possibly imagine.
17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder? Happier
ii. thinner or fatter? Thinner
iii. richer or poorer? Richer
18. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Writing stories and essays, playing around with my website. Of course, I would be thrilled if I could just do that, as a career.
19. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Worrying. It isn't good for the state of mind. I wish I'd done less crying, as I seemed to be a leaky faucet at times this year.
20. How did you spend Christmas?
Three family Christmases for the event. For the day, I went to my mom's and we had the Grandma Barbara-related Christmas.
22. Did you fall in love in 2004?
Not as such, though I've done some crushing.

Not at the level of hate, but I certainly don't feel particularly happy with certain government figures.

Most enjoyable: Going Postal, the latest Discworld by PTerry.
Most intriguing: Generations: the history of America's future
27. What was your greatest musical (re)discovery?
I can't think of anything. I'm not so much with the specifics of when I discovered people. I've listened to Sarah McLachlan more this year than I used to, but I did like her before.
28. What did you want and get?
New job so that I can phase out of BV; to go to VividCon; the BtVS S7 dvd, The Silmarillion, and the RoTK:EE.
29. What did you want and not get?
World peace.
30. What was your favorite film of this year?
That came out this year? I didn't see many new ones, really. Did Bourne Supremacy come out this year or last? Harry Potter, maybe, but I had issues with that. My only issue with Bourne was how Matt Damon got so damn hot.
31. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Well, my twenty-second birthday was the day after Thanksgiving this year. I made sure that I had the day off from work and thus spent all those holiday-related days doing Thanksgiving and birthday stuff. Nothing terribly exciting.
32. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
A different president.
33. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2004?
Casual.
34. What kept you sane?
Coke (sadly, I can't kick the caffeine habit -- damn withdrawal headaches),
35. Which celebrity/public figure did you lust after the most?
Female: Keira Knightley, King Arthur. Guh.

The election, the gay marriage issue, and Iraq all held my attention.
37. Who did you miss?
My aunt Leslie, always.
38. Who was the best new person you met?
Best? Dude, I couldn't possibly even draw up a list. I met too many, most of them at VividCon.
39. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2004:
That it is better to try and risk falling than it is to play it safe. Something that I've known intellectually for some time, but this year is the first that I've felt it to be true emotionally.
That things happen, horrible things, and that all you can do is try to help others as best you can.
