It's so hard not to be pissed off at people who voted for Bush. So very hard. Screw civil rights, screw privacy rights, because instead, you can have a leader who'll say that he's a messenger for God. And I know that it's not that simple, but when the numbers show that the majority of Bush voters believe things that are proven to be lies, I want to cry.

And I believe in God, a form thereof, yet all I want to do right now is watch Stargate, think about false gods, and ponder the idea of Jesus as an Ancient.

I get paid tomorrow, so I'll be able to actually do something productive. All I can do now is circle, restless and unfulfilled.

I'm going to go watch SG-1 save a girl from having a hole drilled into her head for her salvation.

I agree completely. I might not buy into organized religion, but I have studied about them and what is being preached by the "Christian Right" clashes completely with what was taught in the New Testament because I was taught that the Old Testament is the book of the Jews and the New Testament was the book of the Christians.

It's crazy how people will believe lies even if there is concrete evidence that those lies are wrong. I think that what those people are in denial that the world changing and they'd rather deny change than accept it.

Right, Jesus' coming burns away the old laws because his sacrifice is sufficient. Except then people say that it isn't, which kinda negates the whole thing.

They will, yeah. They do. It's frustrating.

I know what you mean. It still makes me crazy to think how close we came to winning, and my pain is being added to by my Bush-supporter co-workers, who are so enjoying throwing Kerry's loss in my face that they've been at it since the morning after the election.

At least I voted, so I can feel good about that, even though the outcome wasn't what I had hoped for. Maybe my vote didn't make a difference this time, but there's always 2008.

There's 2006, too. Not presidential stuff, but still important.

It's frustrating as hell to lose at least in part because of people who feel that they have the right to force their beliefs on me. They are not more moral. They're just pushier.

I couldn't have said it better myself. :-)

Ascroft thinks he's King David. This is definitely one administration for the history books. It will be interesting to be an old person and my grandkids going, was Bush really that crazy. I will laugh and say "Yes" because by then it will be really funny.

What bothers me isn't that Bush says he's a messenger from God because he got brainwashed at Bible Bootcamp (does anyone else think the drugs were less harmful). What upsets me is the complete turning away from the principles this country was founded on. The very first compromise this country faced was about religion, as in we don't have an established one because we learned our lessons from the English Civil War. Where have those lessons gone? Same place education has. If I was more of a conspiracy theorist, I would venture that this was deliberate.

The founding fathers were very careful in setting up our government so stuff like this didn't happen. The line between church and state is engraved in blood. It seems some people don't like that. That doesn't matter. It's not supposed to matter. This is one line that should not be crossed, but it is.

I'm not going to paint all Bush supporters with one brush. I am however going to say and say loudly that the division between Church and State goes beyond an established state religion and I will do everything I can to fight those that wish to merge the two in any sort of issue. As such, I am going to devote a lot of my time to helping GLBT gain the equal recognition that they merit as human beings.

I have lots to say about this. I will be saying it lots in my journal. I will not be one of those people that take time off from discussing politics or try to drown myself in day-to-day life. That is why they won. Because we let them. I won't any more. My country will rise and take her place as the shining city on the hill once more, damnit, if I have to get arrested every weekend until it happens.

I hope so, I really do.

Definitely. This is not the time to back away, just because some people are saying that we're pushing too hard. It's not too hard. We're fighting for civil rights and for equality and freedom.
