Things of Awesome: Yuletide Recs
Dec. 25th, 2008 06:57 amThe Yuletide Secret Santa is open now (for those who don't know, it's for obscure fandoms -- or, it's supposed to be. I'm pretty sure that Merlin was obscure when it was first requested, but I doubt it would count if the requests were being put in today!).
So, I've skimmed through and read some of the stories and have recs for interested people:
* Her Rightful Place: A Devil Wears Prada fic from Emily's point of view. It has Paris clothes and a white cat named Westwood. The Emily voice is absolutely perfect.
( Two 'Young Wizards' and two 'Swordspoint' recs )
* Through a Glass Darkly is a Hancock fic about Mary, Ray, Hancock, that superhero thing, and wanting things to work out. It's very delicately-written. Very good.
( One 'The Giver' and two 'Mary Poppins' recs )
* There are twenty-three Merlin fics (you see what I meant up above, yes?). That Shall Achieve the Sword marries this Merlin into the Malory version (or at least makes it feed into it) while keeping all our Merlin characters perfectly in character. I've saved the others to read later (because, you know, twenty-three).
* There are also a ton of Psych fics, only, unlike Merlin, I think that this may double the amount of Psych fics on the internet (note: joking, though there is a lot less good Psych fic out there than good Merlin fic, especially of the variety that I prefer -- BFFs being shipped together. I'm always wanting more Shawn/Gus). ( since I feel much more deprived when it comes to 'Psych' fic, there are more recs )
* For Red Dwarf, we have His Hologram Lover!, where every time Rimmer called Lister 'an insubordinate lowlife with the personal hygiene of a mentally deficient infant baboon', he was really saying 'I love you'.
( Two 'Rome' and two 'Hamlet' recs )
* In You're the Cream in My Coffee (a Singin' in the Rain fic), Cosmo attempts to move out of Don's house and Don would totally get him an elephant, if he wanted one, and they aren't losing each other, but gaining Kathy.
( One 'Slings and Arrows' and one 'White Christmas' )
