I loved the Wolfram and Hart storyline -- more than that, I love that Angel and Co. failed in their attempts to join W&H. This was not the story about how when you grow up, you have to sacrifice your principles in order to make a living. This was the story about what happens after you've sacrificed your principles, good and bad.

I love Eve, as the personification of the good face that many companies put up -- it's always all about the team, about profits, and about keeping that damn smile on. I loved the wonderful foreshadowing of The Cautionary Tale of Numero Cinco. I adored the tragedy of the Fred/Wesley storyline and I love Illyria to bits. An amoral being from before demons had lost their grip on this world? I'd been wanting to meet an Old One since I heard about them back in Welcome to the Hellmouth.

And Angel's character grows so much in season five, all while going back to the essential root of the character -- "kill them all". Season four is probably my favorite season, but season five easily beats out one and three.

Some of it's crap and some of it is quite good. I don't think that the quality of music has gone down. Honestly, the bad rap that pop always gets is something that just amuses. I once read an article from a very old newspaper that contained the wonderful line -- "Pop music, called 'jazz' by its adherents," and then it went on to basically say all the things that people say about music these days. That pretty much sums it all up for me -- nothing new under the sun, including disdain for pop.

Marti Noxon tends to get a bad rap in fandom. I think that she's a much better character writer than she gets credit for. Marti is the go-to girl for kink and sex in the Buffyverse canon. She also penned one of the best lines in the history of Angel -- "God doesn't want you, but I still do."

Marti interjects a darker reality into what she writes, but she can be hard to take if used a lot. Her sensibility is a large part of what threw many people out of season six and also a large part of what makes season six my personal favorite season. She tends to go too deeply into the mood of what darkness is, leaving people who have not experienced it out of the loop -- this is bad for general audiences and a boon to the people who may have felt that they had nothing on tv to point to that showed the emotional realities that they faced.
