The Plan: VividCon 2005

From Thursday to Tuesday, I will be away from my home state of Oregon and will instead be staying over at Chicago, Illinois for my second VividCon (What is this VividCon, you may ask? Is this a gathering for fans of those Vivid porn videos? No, in truth, VividCon is a yearly conference for vidders -- those who take pieces of music and say, "Ah-ha! Sympathy for the Devil is so very much a song about Lex Luthor that I will take video clips of this fictional character and time them to that song." *cue evil laugh*).

I will be taking my new notebook computer with me this year, so, I will not be utterly cut-off from y'all. Because, seeing as it takes me an hour in the morning and an hour at night to catch up with my flist as it is, I would, um... dread the idea of catching up on six days of lj. I love y'all, but that's at least twelve hours straight, and that's without stopping for snacks and bathroom breaks.

So, I have Wednesday off-work so that I'll have an entire day to make absolutely certain that I am completely packed and ready. And I'm sure that I'll still panic on the airplane, certain that I forgot something vital, like all my clothes, despite all the compulsive double-checking that I'll do.

On Thursday, I'll be getting on a ten-thirty flight to Chicago and will end up getting there at six-thirty (morning and evening, respectively). The shuttle doesn't take much time to go from the airport to the hotel, so I'll probably stop by the registration table that night, so that I can go through the registration packet that night. Because I will want to, as I like being prepared. I'm not always good at it, but I like it.

_par_avion will be checked in by the time I get there, as she arrives Thursday afternoon. greensilver will also be getting there on Thursday, though I'm unsure of the exact time on her arrival.

Thus shall Thursday end.

VividCon itself starts on Friday and I've tentatively decided what shows and panels that I'll be going to (subject to change, of course).

Friday is all shows, all day for me, I think. Then, of course, Friday night is Club Vivid, where there is dancing and viddage at the same time. It was a brilliant person who thought of that. Wonderful idea.

At some point on Friday, annavtree will arrive and our room will be full.

Saturday is more complicated. I will be watching the Action vidshow, and then bopping over to attend the Action panel. Because I love to be able to do action vids. Seriously, it is a desire. So, study and discussion must occur.

After lunch, I will watch the Vidding History vidshow and then, again, bob over to attend the panel on Vidding History. I will then be staying in the panel room to attend the Vividsection before bopping over to check out the Cops and Robbers vidshow.

After dinner, it is time for Premieres! Eee. Vids that have never before been seen in public. Coolness. I will watch and hope that, by next year, I will have enough courage to make and submit a vid to premiere at VividCon.

After Premieres, the Sci-Fi fen will be going over to destina's room to watch a tape of the new Sci-Fi Friday. And then we will likely all fall over in exhaustion.

On Sunday, there is Vid Review in the morning. I may or may not go, as I may or may not be too tired. We shall see. After lunch, I will go to the panel room for the In-Depth Vid Review and likely stay for Song Choice: Matching Song to Fandom. Then, I will be over in the vid room, watching the Challenge Vids. Then there is Auction and Call from the Public.

And then most people will leave. I, however, am staying in the hotel Sunday and Monday night as well, for I have Plans To See The City on Monday. Because I really want to see the city, but will not have a chance during the con itself.

Then, I will fly home on Tuesday. I have the day off Wednesday and I expect to spend most of that day sleeping.

After that? We start the long wait for next year's VividCon.

I think it is cause the only other one I know of is in St. Helens and I don't think you went there so it probably was Evergreen. *Shrugs*

Since you are being so proactive, thought I'd mention that VividSection has been replaced by a panel that astolat is doing on Aesthetics. Unfortunately, our VividSection volunteer ended up having to cancel on the con -- but I think the Aesthetics panel will be excellent.
