Moulin Rouge still makes me cry at the end.

Ewan fucking McGregor, man. Of course, Baz is partly to blame, since he doesn't have a problem with actors seriously crying (see: Romeo and Juliet for more ugly and real crying from a Baz film). And Nicole is perfect in this, truly. Gorgeous and tragic and, dude, her skin glows.

I've seen this film... I couldn't possibly count the number of times. And yet, it captures me each time. I laugh and weep with just as much fervor as the first time I saw it in theaters. It's such an intensely cathartic movie -- it gives you permission to feel on an epic scale.

God yes. I LOVE that film. Absolute word to all of this. I'd quite like an icon from it. *used to have one* It's got to be one of my favorite films.

EVERY time there's this rush of joy when they're in love and the storm of crying at the end and all the other emotions in between, it's lovely.

I'd put it in my top five favorite movies... if, you know, I can count the Lord of the Rings as a single movie.

Yes, it's just such a flood of emotion. Beautiful acting, gorgeous music and editing, and I'm amazed at the idea of the film itself. There's nothing that I would ever want to skip over, even if there are some parts that I adore even more than others. The Elephant Love Medley, El Tango de Roxanne, and Come What May are possibly my favorite scenes, but how can I forget the charge of Santine's Diamonds or the heartbreak of The Show Must Go On? Not to mention the humor and wit of Spectacular Spectacular and Like a Virgin, and the absolute hopeful joy in the finale (I'm always breathless when the curtain falls -- I know that she's going to die, but every single time, I hope that she won't and it breaks my heart all over again when she does)).
