So, two important things have happened since I last posted. The serious important thing is the death of Rosa Parks. In the grand tradition of my obliviousness, I really did think that she was dead already. Because I did a report on her in school and everyone else I ever did a report on had been dead for ages.

So, hearing that she died and hearing that she'd only been ninety-two, it really puts into relief the fact that this whole civil rights thing is taking... well, a pretty long time. I can read facts and numbers and know that we had Jim Crow laws into the 1960's, but reading that Rosa Parks died in 2005 at the age of 92 really reminds me that segregation wasn't all that long ago. Reminds me that my dad has more than a few racial biases himself, which is a rather unpleasant discovery I made a few years ago.

I always admired Rosa Parks, I remember that much. She was very, very brave.

The other thing, not quite so serious or important, is that the Stargates have been renewed. Honestly, I'm not surprised. Though, in the wake of seeing Serenity, I ache. Because SG-1 can be a good show, but... it ain't Joss Whedon. SG-1 is the show that I picked up in the wake of Angel's cancellation. It has comforted me. But... man. Ten years for SG-1. Not quite one year for Firefly. Doesn't balance.

I still miss having a Joss Whedon show on the air. Nobody makes me think like that man. I... miss it. I loved Serenity, I do, but I really miss having a Joss show. Two hours can't compare to a season's worth of television, especially not Joss Whedon television, which remain the most emotionally-packed, strongly metaphorical, and the downright best written/acted/directed shows that I've seen. Hands down.
