These are quite a bit longer than they were at the beginning.

2x11

1) Wow, that opening scene. I don't think I breathed properly until it was over. Stiles just knotting and knotting his lacrosse net and talking about feeling like he can't breathe. Everything just winding up tighter and tighter. I was talking about appreciating the show having realism with regards to consequences and this scene... wow. Stiles has gone through so much and he's always so active, so dynamic, and he's just this place where he has no idea what to do. All he has is the horrible crushing feeling that something terrible is going to happen.

And it sounds like he doesn't know what Scott did, which is as I'd suspected.

I'd say that I hope that the show will deal with Scott and Allison's (terrible terrible) life choices but just going from what the show has done so far, I don't think I have to worry about that. They've been ruthlessly honest with emotional consequences on the show so far. It's hard to imagine that they'll decide to drop that for S3.

2) Oh, look, Scott! It's your buddy Gerard! Getting his pet kanima to choke your mother! Clearly, siding with Gerad was an awesome life choice. Two thumbs up. /sarcasm mode off

I just...argh. Gerad isn't trustworthy. He was never trustworthy. The first day you met the guy, you saw him slicing a werewolf in half. You saw that, Scott. Sliced. In half. For being a werewolf. How can his current actions be surprising you so much?

I'm just going to go bang my head against the wall for a while.

I actually don't mind -- in a larger sense -- that Scott does horribly unwise things. They are, sadly, very much in character and the show has treated them honestly. But, dude. Scott. Dude. I don't know. Take a critical thinking class or something.

It also really contrasts against Stiles and how much in his head he is -- Scott acts without thinking about the larger consequences, but Stiles is trapped right now because that's all he can think about. He feels lost and overwhelmed (and useless).

3) And here's Derek, also feeling lost and overwhelmed and useless. Not a good enough alpha for Boyd and Erica to want to stay when they feel like there's another choice out there for them.

4) "I usually have no idea what I'm doing. Actually, I never have any idea what I've doing." This is very true, Scott.

Actually, it's pretty true for all of them.

Interesting that trusting in Scott is brought up again, even after the reveal (to the audience) of his betrayal.

5) "Are you okay, dude?"
"I'm perfect."
"Well, we all knew that, but are you okay?"

Aw, I love Danny. And Jackson is able to snap out of his kanima fugue state enough to warn Danny. Aw, their friendship really does show off the best sides of Jackson. Like, when Jackson's around other people, you wonder how he can manage to have a friend as awesome as Danny but then he's around Danny and you go, "Oh, right. Because he's not a jerk when Danny's there."

6) It was nice to see how genuinely happy Scott was for Stiles getting to play. I mean, the boy is...not the best when it comes to thinking through his actions and his priorities can be seriously horrible at times, but he's got a good heart.

7) "He's just a little nervous. Plenty of time to turn it around."

Aw, Lydia. ♥

It's totally adorable how genuinely into the game Sheriff Stilinski, Melissa McCall, and Lydia are.

8) So, Allison is currently the kind of person who can continue to shoot people while they're begging her to stop. Kids her own age. Who aren't trying to hurt her but are just trying to run away so that they can survive. Both Allison and Scott are making bad life choices recently. Out of fear on Scott's part and grief/guilt on Allison's, which are definitely reasons that people make bad life choices but, dude.

...also, don't play chess, Scott. If you play chess, then you will lose. I don't care who you're playing against. You will lose.

"Haven't you guessed what the real offer on the table is?"

No, he hasn't, Gerard. It's Scott. Have you not met Scott?

Also, way to creepily pimp out your granddaughter. That was very vomit-inducing, thanks for that.

Chris is currently being disturbed by how much Allison is reminding him of Kate. Or maybe that's mostly me feeling that way.

Anyway, I very much approve of Scott implicitly rejecting the whole creepy "give me Derek and I'll ~let you have Allison" deal and going and helping out Isaac. Like I said before, Scott is not the most brilliant of kids, but he has a good heart. And hopefully the same instinctive "ick" reaction that I did to Gerard's 'deal'.

9) Mmm. "Our name is a symbol of who we are." Makes me think about the Stilinskis. I can't remember anyone saying either of their first names on the show.

Aw, Derek looking all sad and bitter when Peter mentions Scott. I'm guessing that Derek didn't get all sharing-time with Peter and mention the whole 'betrayal' thing.

The emphasis on human love is interesting.

10) Hmm. So Stiles feels helpless when he's dealing with all this supernatural stuff, but he gets put into the normal thing that he's been wanting to do and he is able to succeed there. He helps win the game.

But then he's still vulnerable/helpless against the supernatural stuff. He gets taken by Gerard while Jackson serves as a distraction.

...so that episode was pretty much all about Stiles. Opens on him feeling like he's drowning, ends with him being stolen away after his moment of victory.

2x12

1) You know, probably the smartest thing Gerard did was manage to separate Scott from Stiles and get Scott to agree to a deal with him without any input from Stiles. Because if Scott had gone to Stiles back whenever it was that Gerard proposed that deal to him...thing would be very different at this point, I bet.

But where we are right now is Stiles, Erica, and Boyd are all trapped in a basement together.

Stiles's instinct is to try to free them (of course) and they have to watch as he gets beaten bloody by Gerard.

Gerard, who wants Stiles to be a 'message' to Scott (since Scott disappointed him by choosing Isaac's life over romance with Allison -- oh, while we're on the subject, yay! he found priorities! Yes, Scott! An innocent kid's life is more important than your love life. Thank you for realizing this).

2) Poor Isaac is so confused. *pets him*

3) Chris Argent is slowly realizing that the fact everyone else in his family is disturbing and murderous is something that he's really uncomfortable with. Yes. Yes, they are and, yes, you should be. He's wrestling with his ethics right now and realizing that siding with humans/hunters no matter what is not always the correct choice. He's learning.

4) Thank you, Melissa McCall. You see a mysterious fluid and you use a stick to get some, rather than touching it with your fingers. I approve of you.

5) ...Peter is actually pretty amusing when he's not being terrifying.

6) "Is there anything there?"
"No. No, she's in love with someone else."

This reminds me of Stiles talking about Matt, talking about how made up a fake relationship with Allison in his head. And how Stiles doesn't do that, doesn't do anything like that.

7) Oh, Gerard, you hypocrite. You nodded solemnly when Victoria said she had to die because she'd been accidentally bitten, but you want to be bitten on purpose to save your own life. They're all evil except if they're you, is that it?

"When it comes to survival, I'll kill my own son."

Gerard's plan, then, was to be healed by becoming a werewolf. And then kill Derek and become an alpha.

8) So Scott, with Deaton's help, was double-crossing Gerard. Hmm. Deaton again.

Which means that Deaton might have indeed meant Scott in that earlier episode but, you know, I'm going to go ahead and disagree with him (if that's what he meant). If Scott is incapable of trusting the people on his team, then he isn't trustworthy. Because that plan could have gone wrong in so many ways and if his side had been in on it, they would have had back-up and maybe a Plan B or C, just in case. Everyone should not just blindly trust Scott because his plan this time sorta worked.

Also, Scott? Yes. Allison really needs to say she's sorry. She was shooting people. With a bow. And helping her grandfather capture kids her age in order to torture them. Maybe you personally don't feel you need any apologies from her but, boy, does she need to make some apologies to a whole bunch of people.

9) So, it seems like Stiles remains unaware of Scott informing on Derek to Gerard. And Scott remains unaware that Gerard beat Stiles up in an attempt to send a message to Scott.

In S1, Scott and Stiles were completely honest with each other (as far as I can remember) about everything going on in their lives. Now, they aren't. They're keeping secrets from each other. Both of them.

And they try to play at being back the beginning, but they know they aren't. You can't ever really go back to the beginning.

I wonder what the alphas did with Erica and Boyd. Hope we get more with them next season. And the Deaton & Morell storyline also got a nice hook.

So, yeah, had a lot to say. I suspect I'll have more to say after it all sinks in a bit.

I was waiting for you to get to the twist at the end!

I agree with what you say about Scott still not being trustworthy because he shut others out. Also, there is something weak about Scott's character (used in the personality sense) when the more believable scenario, that everyone fell for, was that he was Gerard's tool. If we are totally surprised and blindsided by his plan at the end, there is a bit of wishful thinking going on there. Just sayin'.

Nice insight into Scott and Stiles' secrets at the end. I hadn't thought of that!

I must admit, I didn't get why Gerard kidnapped Stiles and then let him go, unless there was some un-shown scene of Scott negotiating with Gerard. It's such a pointless action otherwise.

Given Scott's brainpower and behavior, nobody can buy that he didn't have step by step instructions to carry out any plan - and it was hard to swallow because he SUCKS at lying, and it just felt very last minute.

Add to that yes - he isn't trustworthy - and whatever reason Deaton has for helping Scott? WTF, there are other KIDS out there that might get killed because your vet tech is a 'nice boy.'

>.<

Not a good job of advising/helping people there, Dr. Deaton.

Gerard - awful, awful man.

Allison- as you can see, this is what I was alluding to in our earlier conversations. She has screwed up, yes, emotions running wild, etc, but she HURT PEOPLE. No value in their pain, tortured, kids she KNOWS.

Girl needs therapy and to be held accountable.

Scott too. If you want trust, you have to give it. And that means honesty. See Elena and Damon - they may FIGHT, but they are HONEST, and that has worked out a lot better than this whole 'oh, I just won't TELL people stuff and it will probably work out' attitude that Scott has.

And Stiles' and Derek were the ones that got the most broken toward the end of the season. They have literally have what they built taken away from them, and now Stiles has this secret he is keeping from his friend - the vulnerability is different then Scott's betrayal, and the latter had better come out.

In the meantime, there is Derek, with his uncle again. Which - who thinks that will work out well? And Isaac, and an Alpha pack.

SWELL.

Chris, you have gotten a clue!

Now make a truce with the Hale pack!

As the only sane and not horribly misdirected members of your families it's about damn time!
