butterflyI love when they get all dressed up and go to dances. The events of Mystic Falls crack me up. Though I also see them as a way of the Founders to keep a stranglehold onto the culture of the town. But, yes, pretty dresses and dancing!
More Elena & Matt bonding time. Matt being all symbolic of a 'normal life' and whatnot.
Elena believes people too easily. Just gonna say it. I still remember Elijah using his weasel-words so that he could knock Trevor's head off.

Yeah, Stefan always cared more about other things, though. Like people seeing him as the 'good one' who 'respects people's choices' to go off and happily get themselves painfully murdered.
...yeah, apparently still holding Stefan's shrug against him.
Why is Caroline on the Stefan-train? Seriously, did she miss the horribleness of him this season? I mean, I'm not saying she should be pro-Damon, but wtf, Caroline? Just be anti-everyone. There's no need to be all pro-Stefan.
Rebekah's really bitter about being stabbed in the back. I don't blame her, but, yeah. Very bitter.
Oh, whatever, Stefan. Like you weren't all about keeping from Elena from protecting herself. Sacrificing herself, sure, you were fine with that. Protecting herself - you told her that she shouldn't have to and you never encouraged her to learn how. Wow, the rose-colored glasses that Elena are wearing regarding Stefan are pretty bright still.
So, Elena, are you going to ask what the ritual does? No, we're just going to blindly trust the woman who already tried to kill you once? Okay, then. Ah, and now Esther has decided that she needs to kill all her kids. Ah. On a certain level, they are kinda murderers and whatnot, so I can't blame her or Elena for wanting to take them out. Elena is still pretty good at lying to vampireswho desperately want to believe they can trust her.
Caroline talking about how Klaus compels people into doing what he wants... does she not remember that she compels people, too? I mean, Klaus definitely has issues, but... Caroline compels people, too.
So... yeah, Damon just saved Matt's life. Is he gonna get any thanks for that? Anyone gonna notice? Could Matt maybe mention it to someone?
Ooo, I liked the blood-tree shape that the spell made on the paper. Pretty. If, you know, bad news for the Original sibs.
Seriously, Elena? WTF is up with you? Stefan took your personal confessions to him and then personally terrified you with them as much as possible. And you want him in your life more? Seriously? I love you, honey, but wtf?
Hey, Matt, seriously, did you not mention to anyone that Damon saved your life? No. Okay then. So everyone (Elena) is just going to assume that Damon attacked Kol for no reason. Awesome. Thanks for that.
What Damon did before, that wasn't self-destructive. This, though, sleeping with the woman that he knows wants Elena dead? Yeah.
No one in this episode is making good life choices. Except, amusingly/ironically, Klaus, who actually appears to be wanting to try something new and make better choices now that he (falsely) believes his mother has forgiven him.

(Though of course when Stefan does something that everyone misunderstands as bad, it's quickly clarified in the same episode or the next. I really don't think that will happen here, since it's Damon.) Remember back in S1 when he was telling Stefan "I hope Elena dies" while at the same time sneaking off to Anna to give her the book to keep Elena safe? Have there been any other Secret Damon Good Deeds? I feel like there have been, I just can't recall right now...
