Only a week off this time, but I missed the show so much last Thursday! I need my fix of TVD!
Klaus complains about Elijah messing up his renovating. Ha! That's very Damon of him. And I see that Elijah doesn't appreciate making promises that involve choosing your words carefully so that you can do what you want when it's someone else who is doing it. Unsurprisingly.
Wow, one of the brothers has been in a coffin for nine-hundred years. Damn.
Shallow moment - Klaus's jacket and shirt ride up when he leans over to close the coffin. Nice.
Yay, Damon left a note in Elijah's jacket! Yay for smart guys!
Ha, Stefan doesn't like being the untrusted one while Damon is the one that Elena now instinctively trusts. Sucks to be you and make your bad life choices, Stefan. Maybe you'll think next time before you use someone's personal confessions to you as a way to terrify them in order to serve your secret agenda.
Elena is lurking everywhere tonight! It's kinda amusing.
Woah, they killed off Bill Forbes! I did not see that coming. Ah, but he'd gotten dosed with the... holy shit, he's a vampire! He got turned into what he hates most. Ah, I remember when Stefan threatened John Gilbert with that back in the S2 premiere.
I'm glad that Ric's desire to sleep with Meredith doesn't outweigh his common sense when the evidence piles up against Meredith (she may or may not be guilty but, as Ric says, it's stupid to pretend that there's no possibility that it was her).
"Hey, Stef, remember when you killed Dad? Might want to dial down the judgement until dessert." Hee!
Caroline talks about hating her dad after what happened - I wish we'd gotten to see a little of that emotion from her. Instead, we only get to check in emotionally with her when she's either being vulnerable to her dad or feeling empathetic. Also, I think Caroline/Elena comfort-hugs are my favorite comfort-hugs.
Okay, this was good, Matt. Being there for her when she needs someone and being there for her to hug. That's good. Now just don't talk. If you think about opening your mouth, just quickly shut it again.
The amount of amusement that Klaus has over the Stefan/Elena/Damon love triangle cracks me up.
Ooo, info on the first Petrova - the doppelgänger originator! I'm so excited. Did he say her name was Tatia?
Oh, wow. That's... icky, Esther. You kidnapped Tatia and took her blood to make your kids vampires. Thanks, that's really creepy.
I'm not quite feeling the scenes with Bonnie and her mom. I think the actress for the mom is the problem.
Yeah, they don't even try to have a scene where Matt engages in conversation with Caroline. Instead, he and Elena talk. Because he is actually capable of saying nice things to her.
That is a freaking lot of blood.
Eeep! Ric! Quick, call Damon!
Whoa, what a bloodier potential solution. Eeep. Hope it works.
That is a really creepy deal that, btw, you have no right to make, Klaus. It's Elena's life, thanks.
Well, Klaus's family is pretty (rightfully) pissed off at him! He personally screwed over each and every one of them.
Elena: "Caroline called. Her dad died. Will you stay with me until he wakes up?"
Matt: "Of course."
I found that bit rather fascinating. Especially since we know Klaus is totally plumping for Matt and Elena to get back together! (Klaus made me laugh a lot tonight)
IT REALLY WAS ESTHER! NOT DEAD! AND SHE FORGAVE KLAUS! AND! AND! OTHER CAPSLOCKY THINGS!!

Date: 2012-02-03 06:24 am (UTC)I really REALLY loved this, because it makes so much characterization sense -- in that, we can buy Elijah taking the mother's death with more ease than Rebeka did. Also, it gives Klaus an extra motive that I felt like he needed.

Date: 2012-02-04 06:09 pm (UTC)It would be neat if Esther turns into the Big Bad for S3 - she's already tried to get Elena killed, after all.

Date: 2012-02-04 09:48 pm (UTC)I'm on the fence about whether or not the family is really going to go along with the Klaus forgiveness plan or are just biding their time for now, but even if they decide they still <3 u so much I think Elena should logically remain a target with Rebekah's ax to grind and Esther's past actions.
(I think this could end up really fun if done right, because it would be kind of reminiscent of the early S1 Stefan/Damon dynamic - where Stefan was like OH NOES FAMILY MAKES MY LIFE SO HARD -- trying to out maneuver his brother who's causing trouble and doing wacky evil deeds, but at the same time they still live in the same house and bitch about each others' lifestyles and it's not a fight to the death or anything)
Esther's clearly been plotting behind the scenes ever since Jeremy's resurrection offset the nature balance - all manipulating Vicki's ghost, making deals to get Elena killed, and sending Bonnie dreams about how that mystery coffin should totally be opened OK. Adding in the unsettling factoid about how she fed her sons their girlfriend, and it looks like GAME ON.
