I love how practical Gwen is.
So, that scene with Jack and Rex is a nice echo of the Doctor and Jack from Boomtown.
Ooo, the company has been stockpiling the drugs for a year. That's at least how long the 'Miracle Day' has been planned or known about, I'm guessing.
Another DW reference: "Bigger on the inside than the outside".
Ah, Jilly works for the company making the drugs. Yeah, she's way on the inside.
That Doctor Juarez is so awesome.
So, we have Jilly (totally secret antagonist) talking to Dr. Juarez and using Dr. Juarez's mentor as a way to try to leverage Juarez into coming and talking to her company. All people in the previous sentence are women.
Oh, RTD, I have missed you and your plentiful and plot/character-important female characters.
Rex is still bleeding. Is his skin healing over at all? Are the fatally-wounded healing?
So, Rex skips off to sulk. Jack goes to a bar to hook up, and Esther and Gwen are adorable together some more. Brad passionately likes Jack's coat. Brad has good taste.
Oh, hi, mirrored sex scenes! I love mirrored sex/romance scenes.
Jack with the wibbling post-sex conversation that he felt the need to call Gwen up to have = wibbly. Dead friends. *wibbles*
And he's all lonesome and reaching out but she has her other life. Very wibbly conversation. On both sides, really, because Gwen misses whichever half she doesn't currently have with her, but Jack (because of attrition) feels like he only has Gwen right now.
Jilly makes a lot of big promises.
Heh, Gwen conning herself into being the point person for the mission. I (and Jack) see what you did there.
Esther, find a nicer guy to crush on! Rex is a jerk. He really is.
Oswald Danes = still massively creepy.
"The future is endless and it's terrifying." Miracle Day is kinda what it would be like for everyone to be like Jack. Okay, the low-rent version of Jack, because he also got anti-aging and quick-healing perks.

Date: 2011-07-23 03:54 pm (UTC)Given that I've kind of wanted to punch her in the face since she first appeared on screen, the antagonism just doesn't feel as secret to me. I agree though that her character is well executed and that there's potential for development.
I totally noticed the many females talking to each other and about other females too!
Oswald is totally horrible! I agree.
