Three people, three, are doing Beatles songs that Kris has performed in association with Idol. There are only nine singers. One third of them picked songs that Kris has sung in connection with Idol.

1. Crystal is singing "Come Together", the song that Kris did for Rock Week (oh, and my dad, who is a huge Beatles fan, was bowled over by Kris's version of the song and felt like he'd improved on the original, btw).

2. Katie is singing "Let It Be", which Kris performed gracefully and beautifully only weeks ago on a results show.

3. Lee is singing "Hey Jude", which was Kris's last song every night of the Idols Live tour last summer (this one is the most excusable).

*sigh*

Bets on whether or not the judges will mention Kris even once?

(oh, they might to say that Crystal's was better than him, if they feel the need to prop her up)

I read an article recently (I think it was in Entertainment Weekly) that noted that this season's contestants are recycling songs that have been done way, way, way too much, which makes me think they have only so many songs from which to choose -- and contestants might not be allowed to request songs as they have in past seasons.

I haven't watched much of the performances, catching a few online, but of what I've seen so far I'm not impressed.

*sigh* Things like this, and [livejournal.com profile] arabian's post on the actual show are making me not want to watch it at all.

I am just not really into it this season. It was better last week, but for the most part it's been one giant MEH for me.
