American Idol: Top 10

butterflySiobhan: Disappointing. The second week when I haven't really been a big fan.
Casey: So much fun! And did his shirt match his guitar? Hee. Very, very enjoyable. I think he did really well this week.
Michael: My favorite Big Mike performance. Really nicely done. Gorgeous.
Didi: I am, of course, biased already in that I very much enjoy Didi's voice. I love how dramatic she can get; it's an obvious part of her musical identity so the judges' critiques confuse me because I feel like Didi's identity has been clear. And Ryan was annoying for pushing her when she obviously didn't want to talk about why she'd picked the song.
Tim: Um. It was better than last week. Yeah. That's all I got. He has this disturbing blankness in his eyes, at all times.
Andrew: Also better than last week. Actually, better than he's been in a while, though still not fantastic.
Katie: Much better. This is the kind of music that she sounds most natural singing, much better than the 'young' songs that they keep trying to force her to sing. I hate that they're putting her in that box and trying to keep her into it. So annoying! She isn't 'current'. Seriously, give it up!
Lee: I love his voice. And he's just gotten better every week, I think. Fantastic. Also, side note, but he kinda looks like Michael Shanks and Ben Browder's lovechild. But, yeah, awesome performance.
Crystal: Hmm. Her voice sounded great, but the piano felt unnecessary - more like she was using it as a prop rather than an instrument. Good singer, though. I mean, she sounded fantastic.
Aaron: Well, it wasn't a trainwreck. I mean, he sounded nice. But it didn't build or grow or have much personality. The weird thing to me in this critique is that it felt like Simon (and the other judges but especially Simon) deliberately danced around Kris's name. Kris was so brilliant with this song last year, especially in his reprise performance. It's weird because they haven't had any problems saying Adam's name (even when - as in reference to Andrew pulling an acoustic slow-down on "Straight Up" - saying Kris's name would have made more sense).
Bones and Smallville return this week. Yay!
