I enjoyed this so much more than the Audition and Hollywood episodes. If I decide to watch the show again next year, I won't start until semi-finals. I watched this with my mom and she really got into it!

Okay, here goes...

1) Paige - she started the night off well with her performance. Powerful voice. I don't really remember seeing/hearing her before now but I really liked her sound.

2) Ashley - Didn't like the song very much. And she felt a little too smooth... didn't hit me the right way.

3) Janelle - Not terrific. Bad song choice (again - lots of those tonight).

4) Lilly - very jazzy voice; really liked what she did with the song.

5) Katelyn - Really good voice. Better than I remembered from before.

6) Haeley - Oh, horrible song choice for her and I didn't like what she did with it, either. Just didn't work for me at all.

7) Lacey - I love this song but I hated what she did with it. Did not like at all.

8) Michelle - I really enjoyed this one. Nice vibe; liked the song.

9) Didi - I don't know what Simon is smoking, to be honest, because I didn't think she sounded like anyone else up on the stage. Her song choice was also very original, I felt. I quite enjoyed it.

10) Siobhan - Great song choice. Loved what she did with it. Fantastic voice.

11) Crystal - I'm... torn about her using up some of her singing time to play harmonica. But her voice is good and she's charming.

12) Katie - Ah, I couldn't not hear Adam during this and he did it better. My mom didn't have that problem and really enjoyed the performance.

The two people that I think were weakest and deserve to get cut are Lacey and Janelle (and possibly Haeley).

My mom's favorites are Siobhan, Paige, and Katie, though she feels none of them hold a candle to Allison's performance of "Alone"

My favorites are Didi, Siobhan, and Lilly (with Paige sneaking in there, too).

When Simon said that Didi sounded like Adelle and Duffy, he wasn't referring to any of the top 24 contestants for Idol. There's a wave of female soul singers, heavily but not entirely British (see also Estelle, Lily Allen, Amy Winehouse, Corinne Bailey Ray) and Didi sounded like one of those women, but not very distinctly.
