I got my hair cut the other day, and when I got to work, my favorite response from one of my managers was that I "don't even look like [[livejournal.com profile] butterfly] anymore," and when I asked who I did look like, he said, "Dorothy Hamill." This led me to looking up pictures of her and... yep, that is so very my haircut. This amuses me so much, as my only previous experience with her is knowing that Buffy went through a 'Dorothy Hamill' phase when she was a kid (though I did surprise my manager when I knew that she was an ice skater).

Work itself is going... fine. Work is pretty much always going fine these days. I'm training people, which is new.

New fandoms keep sneaking up on me and clubbing me on the back of head. I'm out for days and when I wake up, I have the canon of a new show running through my head. Supernatural is quite likable (Ha! It starts out all nice and spooky and then rips your heart out with a dull spoon, leaving you screaming in agony for days.) and I've grown very attached to it very quickly, but my love for Doctor Who hasn't faded (I need to write about Idiot's Lantern before the new episode airs. Short version: I liked it a lot.) and I'm really, really keen on knowing what happens on Stargate and Battlestar Galactica this upcoming season. Also, I still have more of The Sentinel and Slings and Arrows to watch. Plus, I've got several episodes of various classic Doctor Who episodes that I'd like to get a chance to see. I'm like Buffy, man, full of love. Love and very little extra time.

Heh. I laugh because OMGSOTRUE. Have I mentioned I'm glad to see this fandom's nabbed you, too? I still need to DL your Dean vid.

It is an evil fandom. Evil! (That said, I've been showing it to my roommate with no intention of telling her what happens at the end before she sees it).

Let me know how you like the vid!

Oh, man, that's gorgeous. I think my very favorite moment is on the first go-round of the chorus - this is the way I pray, and Dean bursting out of the water with the kid in his arms. Quintessential. (And on a shallower note, mmmm, lots of gunporn.)

Also, great job matching cuts with the beats of the music - something I always feel gives a vid a lot more energy, but a technique used by surprisingly fewer vidders than you'd think.

In short, OMGDEAN! *glomps him - and you - and waits impatiently for September*

Thank you! And thank you so much for pointing out that moment -- it's the very first image that popped into my head when I first associated the song with Dean -- him saving the kid from drowning was the first 'pray' from the very beginning of the vidding process, so I am so glad it works as well for other people as it does for me.

The gunporn is essential to any understanding of Dean's character.

Thank you. I don't exactly call myself a 'beat whore', but I do think that the beat and the sound of the music can give a vidder so much more to work with, give what they're doing so much more power.

Dean, yay! (time needs to move more quickly)

My first thought about Dorothy Hamil is also Buffy's line in S2 too. Fandom just eats our brains huh. )

Hee, yep. Exactly how it is. :)

Fandom really does just seep in. There are so many random tv shows facts that I know off the top of my head, but real world stuff just kinda floats right out the other side (the difference being that the fannish stuff is more enjoyable to remember, I think).

I think...at this time we have exactly the same interests. Except for Supernatural, but I've watched a few episodes and I adored it, so I know I'd love it if I got the chance.

Did you ever get into Veronica Mars?

I haven't given VM a chance yet, because I'm afraid that I'll like it and fall prey to another fandom (this is also why I haven't tried to get Life on Mars). I'm sure that I'll crack eventually, though. I'm fond of clever blondes.

I'm finding myself very resistent to VM, I watched the first four episodes and wasn't really impressed.

I'm a little wary of teenage girls as leads, they tend to annoy me, as do teenage boys come to think of it.

Teens have their own set of annoyances, definitely. I have quite a lot of sympathy for the teen position -- I have a lot more sympathy for self-centered teens than I do for self-centered adults. It's a sucky time of life, for quite a few people, and I don't blame the young for not realizing that they aren't the first people who've felt lonely (of course, I have no idea if any of this is relevant to VM).
