Now, I definitely went into this episode with a predisposition to like it: I like Doctor Who, I enjoy Russell's writing, I adore David Tennant, and I loved Michelle Ryan as Merlin's Nimueh.
Quite an exciting beginning.
I love it when people tweak the Doctor about being called 'the Doctor'.
On the Doctor tasting the sand:
Doctor: "Not good."
Christina: "Well, it wouldn't be. It's sand."
Eeep! That was a really creepy death. Smoking and... seriously, kids watch this?
I really like that the husband knows about his wife's psychic deal (and that, basically, we've got no one calling Carmen crazy or a liar).
I loved the police realizing that they were out of their depth (and we had the one guy on the death-planet side reference the events of TSE/JE).
Oh, I really like Christina. Hee. I loved the Doctor assuming that she was appointing him leader but, when it turned out that she was appointing herself, he filed in with everyone else.
Christina is organized, good at keeping panic at bay... wow, she would have been useful in "Midnight".
And then... oh, we got to hear the rest of the Doctor's speech from the trailer and the lead-up to it and it may be the most beautiful one he's ever said (maybe. It's gorgeous). Telling them to focus on what they're going back to.
Ooo! I think that's the UNIT officer from "Turn Left"!
Hee. I like how impressed the Doctor is with Christina's preparedness.
Malcom: "The Doctor called me a genuis."
Cpt. Magambo: "I know. I heard."
Hee. UNIT is so impressed with the Doctor. It's so cute.
Aliens and an alien spaceship! Awesome!
(and it's always fun to have the Doctor speaking alien)
Oh, Doctor.
*hearts*
Christina: "You're an alien."
Doctor: "Yeah. But you don't have to kiss me, either."
Hee!
Christina putting together the pulley system while the Doctor is off trying to open shafts: awesome. I really like her.
Aw, Donna reference.
"I had a friend once. She called me spaceman."
Oh! And the Doctor talking about when he stole the TARDIS. Aw.
Very exciting space/UNIT stuff. I approve.
So, she kisses him and asks to come with him. And he says no.
He's lost enough people.
"Your song is ending." Ooo. Echo of the Ood's words.
A prophecy for his death/regeneration.
And aw... yes. Just because he doesn't want to travel with her (doesn't want to lose someone else), doesn't mean he wants her in prison. She'll be able to escape now. And she has a flying bus. Awesome.
"I'll just... step inside this police box and arrest myself."
"We could have been so good together."
"Oh, Christina. We were."
And... ooo. That preview for the next time (so far away!) looked good. "The Waters of Mars".
Quite an exciting beginning.

Plus, only three people died (the bus driver and the two fly aliens)! That might be a record for an RTD episode.

It was a fun episode, pretty much the anti-Midnight.
