butterfly: (Flame Hair - Donna)

Someone should maybe talk me out of this Doctor/Donna/Rose OT3 vid that I appear to be making. It's kinda made entirely out of crack. But it will not let me go!

Edit: Because this can't wait for when I get to "Partners in Crime", I give you clothing meta:

This is Donna in "Partners in Crime".
This is the Ninth Doctor in "Rose".

I rest my case.

That's the opposite of talking out of!

The lyrics are just so incredibly perfect in this utterly crazy way. I blame RTD for writing "Turn Left". This would not be possible without "Turn Left"!

All I'm saying is Ten II has some of Donna's personality.

Oh, I must now clothing meta you: the outfit that Donna wears in "Partners in Crime" is a dead-ringer, color and cut-wise, for the outfit that Nine is wearing when he first meets Rose. Black jacket! Deep purple shirt!

DUDE! WOAH.

Obviously this means something. And I am in favour of you working it into your vid. OBVIOUSLY.

Not that we're, you know, obsessive or anything.

(Now you're giving me vidding tingles again. I can't vid! I don't have time! Wah.)

I'm sure that more stuff will pop out at me as I continue my rewatch ("Rose" is still totally awesome -- how did that episode end up at #44 on my list? After this rewatch, it totally got bumped up... and not just for the Donna foreshadowing).

Rose *is* all manners of awesome, so yay for bumpage! I still prefer The End of the World as an introductory episode (to show to others, that is), and it's the last ten minutes of that ep that made me fall in love with the Doctor and Rose... but I still love Rose for all the things you pointed out in your review.

"The End of the World" is so fantastic. I suspect that I'll be saying that quite a lot, but when I rewatched TEotW, I went, "I'd forgotten how great this was!" And this was for the episode that I put at #10.

It was actually really hard to analyze the episode because I kept forgetting and just watching it.

Heh, I know. The first couple of times I rewatched it I couldn't believe I'd forgotten how fantastic an episode it is; and even now, when I know how awesome it is and how much I love it, I'm still always taken aback by how much squishy love I have for it when I watch it.

You know, Donna gets paralleled with Rose several times in JE. It's like PotW in photo-negative. Think about it:

--She gets locked in the TARDIS and sent somewhere she doesn't want to go
--Her eyes get filled with golden light as something mystical happens
--She acquires abilities beyond most humans and even outdoes a Time Lord
--She has power over the Daleks, who, though not directly by her, get destroyed
--The power makes her head hurt
--The Doctor has to remove that power from her
--"She'll burn."

Yes! A whole bunch of 'yes'!

The three characters are very thematically and visually connected. I really want to talk about that for, like, days (Martha is very visually connected to Rose for a while but for very different reasons that... well, series three). I'm currently trying to restrain myself so that the joy of meta will last longer (JE is scheduled for December '09).

Donna and Rose are empowered by 'Time Lord'ness (in PotW and JE), while (in LotTL) the Doctor is empowered by humanity. They are a triangle of complete awesome.
