butterfly: (Good News -- Ten and Jack)
[personal profile] butterfly
A. That was amazing.

B. Holy fucking shit.

C. Every character was perfectly in character. That was beautiful. I have no clue what's going to happen next.

I just... I loved that. That was so spectacular. I'm still blown away.

Rose and the Doctor -- so in love, or what, huh?

Jack once again drops everything to return to the Doctor's side, but this time, he promises Gwen and Ianto that he'll come back.

Gwen is so good at taking charge. It's hot.

I'm so glad that we got the character updates (and name drops!) of the people who weren't with us.

And Donna remembering the bees (some bees are alien, but not all because that would be daft. Hah!) and that being part of the key -- that's what got them close enough to get the signal.

I love Harriet Jones having a sentient computer link thing (funded by Mr. Copper! The Doctor made the right choice, leaving him all that money). I love that she stood by her choice then and stands by her choice now (and I bet the Doctor still feels that he made the right choice as well).

Martha! Going home at the end of the world. That's so her. I loved her in this.

And Sarah Jane! Like Jack, leaves to go find the Doctor the second she can (and her telling Luke she loves him -- aw!).

Then the reunion! And a regeneration! Dude! What's going to happen? Dude!

(did you see their faces? they looked so incredibly happy and blissful in that big run towards each other. And it was Rose's theme, OMG!)

Overall, that was just fucking fantastic.

Oh my god, the regeneration killed me. You would have thought someone was pointing a gun at me, I screamed so loud. But really? I will be so fucking upset if Ten really regenerates into a new Doctor. Not ready to let him go. (I don't think he will, at least, I HOPE not)

I know! I'm not ready for him to leave, either. I mean, they can't really... can they?

I don't want my Doctor to change. I think I understand how people who didn't know that Chris was leaving beforehand felt about Parting of the Ways now. And poor Rose! She only just gets him back and if he changes now, then he's out of service for the duration of the crisis, which sucks, plus there's the whole 'new face' thing and she's aware that while the Doctor is the Doctor, some things do change (though not, I'm guessing, his love for her).

ok, I'll have to second that.
Holy fucking shit.

I absolutely adored this episode. Everyone was amazing. Loved my Torchwood guys and girl. Loved Donna to my eternal death. Loved her family.

I absolutely shed honest to God tears with Harriet Jones. The fact that she stands by her action just made me love her all the more and cry all the harder. It takes a specially strong person to actually stick to her own side against the Doctor. Love her.

I'm not a fan of Rose-in-love. But she is kicking some serious ass, even though I she's actually quite a different person now.

I think now I have an educated guess of what's coming. One thing will bug me a bit, but if it'll make the other thing happen, then I'll actually just forget about the one thing and enjoy the other thing. (dunno if you wanted speculations hehe)

I'm still kind of in shock. Ok, I'm freaking out actually. hehe

Really? She seemed very Rose to me. Especially once she caught sight of the Doctor, but even her jealousy over the 'new girl' was pretty cute and canonical. All the bits of Rose -- the brave and the petty, the wonderful and the dangerous, seemed to be intact to me.

I loved that, when she ran towards the Doctor, she was just Rose. That run was what made it all real to me, in a way. Like, "This is really happening. It really, really is. Rose, and The Doctor, and it's happening." I loved it.

Her face! His face! They were so! I just! I did let out this great big happy sigh when the Doctor turned around and Rose smiled like the sun had come back into her world. Her eyes were so bright and joyful and his face... they love each other so much.

I know. I know! They just... they are so wonderful. And she just smiled, and grinned, brighter and brighter, and his face! His face when he realised it was really her. Rose. I love that they love each other so much, and bring out the best in each other. I love their joy at being together so much.

Yes. And I love that Donna is a shipper (Jack, too). I love that the two other people in that ship at the end are the people who understand what the Doctor and Rose have together. I'm so glad that Jack's there this time. I'm so glad that Donna's there. Those four have the potential to be so awesome together.

Donna is the biggest Doctor/Rose shipper ever, and it's so wonderful that she is. And you're so right about both her and Jack being there with them - they both know what the Doctor and Rose mean to each other, and they'll do everything in their power to keep them together. I just have so much love for the four of them. I feel like I'm going to burst. This is just so, so wonderful. Better than anything I could have dreamed. And exactly the reason why I was able to just sit back and wait for this. Because.. this. This.

I'm going to hug you now, okay?

*cheery squishy hugs full of glee and joy and Doctor/Rose/Donna/Jack love*

From last episode I thought that Rose was different - but that's understandable, with being sans Doctor, working for Torchwood in a paralell universe and all. She's just different, not bad or anything.

I also didn't mean that I could not see the old Rose around, but I guess only the Doctor seems to take that persona from her. It's hard to explain, but I just think Rose is a different woman now.

Yeah, I think I know what you mean. I was just watching Turn Left again before watching this, and I was searching for my Rose squee (it came out for the great hair and the TARDIS). But this really brought her home to me, because they're just such an entity. And it's theDoctorandRose that I fell in love with first, long before falling for them as individual characters. So, figures it would come back to me as they're approaching proximity to each other. :-)

Seriously, if I didn't love Gwen/Rhys so much, I'd totally be OT3-ing Jack/Gwen/Ianto. Maybe Rhys is giving her a "get out of marriage free" card for them against the possibility he'll one day meet Cate Blanchett and need one of his own.

Just yes. Yes. Yes yes yes to every single word. I thought EXACTLY the same things.

That was amazing and fantastic and mind blowing. And everyone was so in character, and the way everyone interacted was so in character and so perfect. I loved it. I just loved it.

That run was perfect. Perfect. (I am picspamming it right now. This information may be vital.)

Oooh, and thanks for the heads up re Mr Copper - he rang a bell, but I just couldn't remember which one for the life of me.

Hah! I KNOW. Because, see, that's the thing - everyone can do tearjerkers. Writing loss and pain and then twisting the knife is easy. But writing happiness? Writing a believably, truly happy couple without it being boring, and still telling great stories? That's what's hard. That's what takes thought and work.

I'm just so high with the happiness.

That's the gift that RTD has -- creating these characters who take such an incredible joy in each other's presence. That's what Julie, I think, is talking about when she says that he isn't cynical. He can write a believable pair of characters who absolutely adore each other and make it interesting.

Yeah.

I flashed back to that bit from The Doctor Dances, when the bomb is about to hit and Nancy is hugging her kid, and the Doctor says "The bomb? Taken care of." Rose asks how. He says, grinning and pointing at the hugging pair: "Psychology."

Same thing here, I think the Daleks and the end of the universe didn't exist for them.

(Speaking of, there are still those crumbling walls between realities. Things are probably going to get a lot more complicated in the second half. I wonder what would happen if they were all taken out of this reality and into Pete's world, since Medusa Cascade is some moments into the future. Plus when the Dalek blast hit him it wasn't a completely glowy-body thing, only his left arm glowed & a part of his left-side. I thought the Doctor said in s1 somewhere that he can't regenerate from a Dalek blast, but a partial hit may explain it. )

They were perfectly in character, I loved that. And the plethora of supporting characters didn't hurt the episode at all. Very well done; we're being pampered this year. I don't know what's going to happen next either; I've read theories but I think they'll turn out to be wrong. I think we're in for quite a surprise.
