A few notes:

I'm in the process of quitting caffeine. I'm down to one can a day, and plan to be entirely quits of the addiction as soon as my current twelve-pack runs out. I believe that this is why I've had several low-grade headaches over the past few weeks (painful enough to make the idea of being social almost unbearable but not painful enough to make me give up on quitting, which is what happened every time I tried to give it up cold turkey). So, that'll all be done with soon, hopefully, and I can begin to again behave like an actual human being who is capable of two-way communication.

Just watched the first season of Slings and Arrows (a Canadian series about directing Shakespeare. In the first season, Paul Gross plays a director who comes back to direct Hamlet, the play that drove him to a nervous breakdown when he played the lead). It's fantastic (as can be judged by the fact that I watched all six episodes straight though and couldn't have stopped myself if I'd tried). Paul Gross is fabulous and beautiful and utterly unlike Benton Fraser (though, amusingly enough, his character in this also sees a ghost).

I'm up to the beginning of Season Six of SG-1 in my viewing with my mother (who was spoiled only to the extent that Daniel's character was leaving and coming back). She was actually really happy when Jonas got to be fourth on SG-1, as she was kinda nervous that they'd add another soldier or someone who was as unlike Daniel as possible (I refused to tell her who would be replacing Daniel, which, on reflection, comes across as a good move).

I've been rewatching due South with my roommate (jic) and our most recent episode was Perfect Strangers, wherein Ray is really cute in Canada and Fraser is really, really hot (though, honestly, I can say that about every single episode -- Fraser's hotness is a constant). I love RayK. So much. I love the RayK years. I love his playfulness with Welsh, the way his relationship develops with Frannie (I love, so much, that they moved Francesca into the station, and I adore her dynamic with Welsh an almost unbelievable amount), and, of course, with Fraser. I love just about everything about how Fraser and RayK develop as partners and friends.

Finished up Freaks and Geeks (conclusion: Lindsay should just have scenes with everyone, ever. She's great. And I loved especially loved her ending and also Daniel's, which was possibly the sweetest thing ever. "cool guys" Aw.).

Next up, I'm checking out Arrested Development. Will let y'all know how it goes.

He actually was a rather good Hamlet when I saw him play the role at Shakespeare. He seemed so young and breakable.

Oh, I heard wonderful things about his Hamlet. I very much envy you for getting to see him (I've heard that he's even prettier in person, which boggles the mind).

Oh, he IS! Plus in the 19c clothes they used for that Hamlet. *dies* He was absolutely lovely. I ran into him the next day on the streets of Stratford and he looked like he had a hard night of drinking the day before. ;) It was nice to know he's human. hehehe

Slings and Arrows is terrific. The second season just aired on the Sundance Channel and I think I have to watch both seasons back to back now. The ghost seeage made me laugh and I agree that the character is nothing like Fraser. Still incredibly gorgeous, though.

It's a wonderful series, definitely. And the choices for the credits and closing music were great touches. And, yes, Paul Gross just has this incredible beauty (also, I'm trying to see if he's ever played a character that was incompetent, as I haven't run across that yet. Perhaps it was considered unbelievable) in addition to his tremendous talent.

I've just had to give up caffeine for health reasons and I've got to say it's not easy. I've been going without for nearly two weeks now and the first week was pretty miserable (lots of headaches) but the second week has been quite a bit better. It's certainly been quite alarming to discover how addicted to it I was. I shall probably go back to it when the health problems clear up (hopefully) but I think I'm definitely going to try and keep the levels of caffeine I drink down in future. Best of luck.

OMG. I saw S&A S1 in February - the first two eps - and I fell head over heels in love with Geoffrey, and head over ears in love with Paul Gross all over again! I went home and WATCHED THE REST. BY MYSELF. This never happens! I hate to watch "fannish" stuff alone! But I did. I loved it so so much.

We also watched MotB and I have to agree with you. The amazingness that is their partnership... it just gets better and better.

In conclusion: I love this post! I love you! Whee!

My roommate is the same way -- she much prefers company when watching anything fannish. I can go either way. I love the joy of being slashy and fannish in company, but when I'm alone with the canon, I get all intense and geeky at it.

It starts on the first and just barrels on, getting better by the moment. Ray is willing to push Fraser in a way that RayV never felt the need to. And that gave Fraser the freedom to push back, to be truly equal with RayK in a way that I never felt like he was with RayV. He gets pissy and human and noble and soft and jealous and kind and petty. He's willing to show RayK this range of emotion that mostly simmered under the surface in the Vecchio years. RayK is electricity, crackle and burn. There's very little that I don't love about their partnership.

I'm doing the 'quitting caffeine slowly but surely' routine as well! This will be the second time I've quit- the first last a good 5-6 yars but introduce a workplace with free caffeinated soda and I was sunk.

Enjoyable, quality tv. It took me a while to get into F&G, but I definitely love the show now. I may have to buy it (though I have so many other things on the 'must buy' list).
