aka "The Doctor's Daughter"

So, OMG! The Doctor's daughter! From a general glance around my flist, it looks like a lot of people are dreading the upcoming episode but I'm really looking forward to it (I should possibly try to restrain my enthusiasm, as I was really looking forward to "The Girl in the Fireplace", too, and we all know how I felt about it after watching it).

My question regarding the TARDIS is this -- were they summoned by where they're going or were they sent by some other force (*cough* Bad Wolf *cough*)?

Now it looked to me as if the Doctor recognized his 'daughter' all on his own. Her "hello, dad" came across as a true greeting, not a 'surprise!' moment. And the way he says, "She's my daughter," has an incredible weight to it. I have to admit to being terribly curious as to whys and the hows of her existence (as both Donna and Martha appear to be).

I admit to a mixture of looking forward to it and trepidation. Am definitely more curious than anything else and not really wanting to have to wait until next week to find out all of these details!

*cough* Bad Wolf *cough*

Yeah, pretty much my thoughts. And if Doctor's daughter has Bad Wolf power, must be Rose's kid too, right? As long as I hold onto that idea, I don't have a whole lot more to comment on on this idea.

I'm not sure whether or not I'm willing to think that it's Rose's kid (unless it's a kid from post-reunion!) because I just hate the idea of her lying to him on the beach. It would make me sad. But random unexpected Rose (or Rose references) always make me happy.

I think a post-reunion kid is an outside possibility. I don't think it's the famous baby from Bad Wolf Bay. I do like the idea of their child having something of the wolf about her, a bit of an inheritance from the TARDIS.

That would be pretty neat!

I'm mostly just looking forward to seeing how the Doctor interacts with her -- I loved him with Susan, but parents and children tend to have more volatile relationships than grandparents and grandchildren (if she is, indeed, a 'real' daughter of his).

Mostly, my brain just hurts from trying to figure out if this is possible, timey-wimey wise. Did all the Time Lords instantly vanish from everywhere in time and space when Gallifrey was destroyed? And if they didn't - is this an oblivious daughter, traveling around in her own TARDIS, not aware of what is going to happen in her future? A lot of drama could result from that.

Either way - definitely agreeing with you on the not a surprise! moment. We'll see how it turns out!

I am both curious and scared for this episode. But mostly I want it over so I'll stop fretting.

Me, too! I’m trying not to speculate about who she is or where she comes from. It’s almost beside the point, for me. I just love the fact that we’re getting an episode called “The Doctor’s Daughter.” I’ve wanted to meet the Doctor’s children—past, present, or future—ever since the first time I watched “The Empty Child.” Episode six might not do what it says on the tin, but I think it gets us one step closer.

I'm very, very curious about her origins. But I also really want to see how the Doctor interacts with her. I loved One with Susan -- they were adorable.

I’m very, very curious about her origins.

I think I’m afraid of getting my hopes up. And since what I want most from this season is answers, that’s what I’m most afraid to hope for. (Otherwise, I’d hope that Jenny is this season’s Satellite Five. But what are the odds of that?)

Answers would be nice. Or seeing her again. Which leads into hoping that she doesn't die in a horribly tragic way.

Well clearly they got some Doctor DNA and some blonde former shop-girl DNA and made a little time lord (lady?)

That's how I'm seeing it and that's final, well until next week maybe...

Jenny: Blonde, dark eyes, "feisty but vulnerable" (as it is said in the DWM), likes pretty boys, champion at gym
Rose: Blonde, dark eyes, feisty (faces the daleks, ...) but vulnerable (used to cry a lot), likes pretty boys (Mickey, Adam, Jack, Ten, ...), champion at gym (won the bronze)...

.... Huh... Lots of common points for two girls who aren't related... RTD just likes to torture poor D/R shippers, doesn't he?

I suspect that he does! And you've already got an icon of her! She does look a bit like Rose and they definitely have points in common.

Right now, I'm mostly focusing my hopes on hoping that she doesn't end up dead.

Totally! This is exactly the sort of story I've wanted to see for four years now, one that might finally give us some answers about the Doctor. And everybody's hating on it before they've even seen it. Unbelievable.

I'm really hoping that we'll get some backstory on the Doctor and learn some things about him that we didn't already know (extra points if this girl is Susan's mum or if she leads the Doctor to telling us the name of Susan's mum -- or his wife's name, for that matter).

Oooh, I'd love to know those facts! What with that and the Doctor's name burning at the Medusa Cascade I'm hoping that we'll know a little more about him by the end of the series. I'm wondering if there'll be a late twist along the lines of the Face of Boe's identity in the finale this year; perhaps Jenny's pregnant and the Doctor suggests that Susan's a nice name?

Hallo. Here via [livejournal.com profile] the_spdn. May I friend you? You always have very cool Who posts. :)

I'm pretty much thinking that this will be the best episode ever, or the worst episode ever. Very little room for in-between with this one.

I also have a theory that the daughter-ness of this chick has something to do with genetic engineering of some kind -- mostly because while the TARDIS was going all wonky at the end of the last episode, the camera flashed onto the Doctor's severed hand. And it occurred to me, we don't actually know what happened to the hand in between its fall to earth and Jack finding it. Mmmm thinky thoughts.

Hello! It's nice to meet you. I'm always flattered to be friended!

I'm pretty much thinking that this will be the best episode ever, or the worst episode ever. Very little room for in-between with this one.

I'm definitely hoping that it will be important. I'd hate for them to do an episode called "The Doctor's Daughter" and then not have lasting effects from whatever happens.

True. We haven't a clue how Jack got his hands on it (and how he was so certain that it was the Doctor's hand).

At this point I am very much looking forward to this episode, even though there's a part of me that is somewhat... afraid to see just how RTD/writers tell us this story.

Bad Wolf!! That could be very interesting. Hopefully this will get explained in the first few minutes. :D

I have to admit to being terribly curious as to whys and the hows of her existence (as both Donna and Martha appear to be).

I think we all are!! I know that I have my "ideal" choice of events but I'm not going to put too much expectation on those thoughts, even if there's quite a bit of similarity...

Anyway, RTD has taught me to be cautious about everything. ^_^"

They've mostly done a really good job with anything that impacts the Doctor on an emotional level, so I'm fairly hopeful.

hehehe I'm just really looking forward to it :D

And even if I don't like it, it's going to be the first from the season. Of course, it'd be nice to keep the awesome 'Loved every episode' trend, but we can't win all the time.
