So, the Doctor's song may be ending soon. What's that about? I've got no notion. Isn't that fun?

The bit of the Doctor's theme that plays at the end of PotO goes sliding down fast, much faster than it plays in the straight-up 'Doctor's Theme'. It is, in fact, exactly the version of the song that appears over the driving beat of 'Doomsday' (all of the 'Doctor's Theme' is much... dreamier than the more intent version that is sung during 'Doomsday').

Note: Ah-ha. A mystery is solved. Though the melody from DD is not the same as "The Doctor's Theme", it is still the same as the music that happens when Rose enters the TARDIS (as pointed out by [livejournal.com profile] cookie2697), which is not "the Doctor's Theme" and does not appear to be on the soundtrack of first series (unless someone else finds it there!).

And here's the imeem link if the embed doesn't work.

They're the two halves of a whole -- she's the driving, burning determination and he's the lone, calling voice. Each reaching out. Each still lost.

And that is all the meta that I have for right now.

Oh absolutely. I agree 100%. In a way, when you think about it - that music is tied to her entering his life, exiting his life...and now reentering it. There's a point of connectivity about it, as well as kind of a transition. I like it a lot. It makes me really curious to see what they're going to do when they finally get to that moment of reconnecting. ACK!

And I didn't say it before, but I love the meta that right now he's the lonely voice crying out while she's the burning determination. There's something very poignant about that.

I love seeing how all of this stuff is just simmering right there below the surface if you know where to look right now. It's awesome.

Indeed! It's quite exciting either way. In fact, I think it's rather more exciting now. I'm looking forward to their reunion so much. Eeep.

Thanks. It kinda sums up their relationship for me, even in the very beginning -- she's the one searching him out and looking him up while he's trying to be 'always all right' in the wake of the Time War.

Oh, I'm both so EXCITED for their reunion, and utterly TERRIFIED about it. I'm going to be in London studying when it airs, and I think I might very well freak out all my classmates because I'll be so worked up over it. Seriously worked up over it.

I love the AGENCY and POWER of the fact that she is the one seeking him out, and determined...it's just one of those amazing things about this show. Every season finale has put the power in the hands of the companion at some point, and I think more poignantly with Rose than any other. And the idea of her taking it into her own hands rather than sitting in Pete's World and waiting. I'm dying to find out HOW she's made it possible.

I think more than anything...at this point I'm just looking forward the the LOOK on his FACE when he figures it all out ;)

The look on the Doctor's face will be worth everything. Hee.

Rose's reaching out for the Hero story is definitely part of why I love her so much. I'm really looking forward to finding out more.
