I went to the first French class. It went really well, actually. I was terrified and didn't get a bit of sleep last night, but I was there today (two hours early), determined to, well, be there.

Not yet anything to cheer about, but a good first step. Plus, I have an advantage now that I didn't then -- namely, my roommate [livejournal.com profile] jic who is taking the same class at a different time. This will, I believe, give me sufficient motivation not to chicken out.

On a Sci-Fi friday note, the American run of The Hive filled me with the desire to read McKay/Sheppard, which is odd, as watching it online didn't do that at all.

I'll be arriving on campus around 12-ish or 12:30-ish MWF, so maybe I'll be able to see you on Wednesdays, which would be nice. My actual class is 1-2:50, but I'm fairly paranoid.

Ooh, McKay/Sheppard! May I solicit?

These are AUs, but the best stories out there, IMHO:

Intersections, by Kaneko
Hindsight, by Rageprufrock
Phantom Limb, by cgb

Canon:

Letters, by Kyliee Lee
Oblivious, by Shalott
Down from Mt. Olympus, by Trinityofone

PG-rated:

Euler's Jewel, by Basingstoke

If you like these, ask for more. I remember giving both [livejournal.com profile] roseveare and [livejournal.com profile] ladycat a rec list with links...

I'm definitely interested now. I've no real idea why it took me so -- I've been finding them highly slashable since Hide and Seek, yet had no real urge to seek out fanfic. And now, all of a sudden, I really want to read about them.

Something that I've found helps learn a foreign language is watching movies / TV / listening to music and reading said foreign language. At least it helped me with my English. :)

That's a good point. I can look up French movies on netflix right away, at the very least. The rest may have to wait until the weekend, but netflix is quick and easy.

Go you!

but I was there today (two hours early), determined to, well, be there.

Hee! Arriving 2 hours early is just the kind of thing that I do.

Thank you.

Arriving 2 hours early is just the kind of thing that I do.

It's always good to hear that other people do that, too. My parents (and uncle, and grandma) tend to act as though ten minutes late is as good as ten minutes early and arriving anywhere ultra-early out of nerves would be unthinkable.

I didn't need the book, but it was nice to see you, as we don't do much of that outside of the weekend.

*hugs*

Thank you! I shall do my best.

Oh, and I've received the cds and plan to give them a good listen soon. I've gotten such the urge to hear new music since I started vidding -- I suppose that I'm always looking for interesting new songs now.

I can still crash and burn, I'll have you know!

Seriously, though, thank you.

The actual being in class wasn't all that scary. It was the moments before that were terrifying. And I'm braver than I used to be, at least a little. So, maybe it'll work out. I'm leaving the door open.
