I went to the first French class. It went really well, actually. I was terrified and didn't get a bit of sleep last night, but I was there today (two hours early), determined to, well, be there.
Not yet anything to cheer about, but a good first step. Plus, I have an advantage now that I didn't then -- namely, my roommate
jic who is taking the same class at a different time. This will, I believe, give me sufficient motivation not to chicken out.
On a Sci-Fi friday note, the American run of The Hive filled me with the desire to read McKay/Sheppard, which is odd, as watching it online didn't do that at all.

Intersections, by Kaneko
Hindsight, by Rageprufrock
Phantom Limb, by cgb
Canon:
Letters, by Kyliee Lee
Oblivious, by Shalott
Down from Mt. Olympus, by Trinityofone
PG-rated:
Euler's Jewel, by Basingstoke
If you like these, ask for more. I remember giving both

Hee! Arriving 2 hours early is just the kind of thing that I do.

It's always good to hear that other people do that, too. My parents (and uncle, and grandma) tend to act as though ten minutes late is as good as ten minutes early and arriving anywhere ultra-early out of nerves would be unthinkable.

Date: 2006-01-11 11:24 am (UTC)Oh, and I've received the cds and plan to give them a good listen soon. I've gotten such the urge to hear new music since I started vidding -- I suppose that I'm always looking for interesting new songs now.

Date: 2006-01-11 11:26 am (UTC)Seriously, though, thank you.
The actual being in class wasn't all that scary. It was the moments before that were terrifying. And I'm braver than I used to be, at least a little. So, maybe it'll work out. I'm leaving the door open.
